Brits will defend this.
>ground floor
>is on the ground
makes sense desubh
They got it right though, it's American English that's retarded in this case.
Parter

Drugie piętro

second floor is two storeys above the ground
etc.
>>65836379
i don't think anyone outside of USA uses your system
>>65836379
Europeans will rage defending Britain.
but in this case US is right because first floor is the first floor you meet. doesn't matter if it's in the ground or the sky.
>>65836525
>first floor is one storey above the ground
but why though
>>65836558
I think el Mexico does.
>>65836558
I use it
>>65836606
It gets more consistent when you add basements:
[British]
Second floor = 2
First floor = 1
Ground floor = 0
First basement = -1
Second basement = -2
While the American convention has it skipping from 1 to -1.
>>65836777
>It gets more consistent when you add basements:
Not really
This shit screwed me up on runecape quests. Fuck British "English"
>>65836609
We use the british one, and it's retarded.
The only time you are right at being special snowflakes.
>>65836379
>British
That's an European system, cunt.
Also, behold, the american 4 step staircase.
>Brits literally cannot count
Astonishing.
We use both.
>>65836379
It's the same in German though. So Brits are doing it right.
>british six packs contain 5 beers because they start counting them from 0
>>65837814
There is nothing wrong with arrays starting at index 0
It's makes sense. If a building have floors beneath the ground, the floors of the house will be counted as -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5
In America it will be -2, -1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6
>>65837814
>>british six packs contain 5 beers because they start counting them from 0
Even if you did start counting beers from zero there would still be 6 of them.
>>65837814
0 1 2 3 4 5
That's still 6, you snownigger.
>>65837910
>arrays
Found the Java or C++ programmer.
>>65837814
When you were born, were you already one year old?
>>65837989
Almost everything except Matlab uses arrays from 0. Python just calls them lists, but it's the same concept, if not structure.
>>65837989
Uhhh there are arrays in C baka
brits are right
Here we say "Planta Baja" (Lower floor) and then 1, 2, 3 etc. If there are underground floors then it's just -1, -2 etc.
So -2, -1, ground floor (0), 1, 2 etc.
>five storie building
>top floor is the fourth floor
>this makes sense
this only makes sense if you don't know how to count
Americans are right. It's more sensible for the numbers of floors to correlate to the number of floors.
