No strategic air transport
No continuously available carrier strike
No large oilers
A much smaller navy by tonnage

The only reason they get so much attention is because the French African ex-colonies are even MORE dysfunctional than the British ex-colonies, so they have to keep sending their military down there to sort things out.

After the capitulation and despite British and USA hostility De Gaulle managed some amazing stuff with very few means.
We were in Africa with Montgomery, we were in Italy with Patton. In every gars combat they were french unit. You can find many documents about how allied generals were amazed by the combativeness and the efficacity of french units.
During the Overload opération french résistance allowed this fabulous success and right after the french libération hundreds of thousands frenchmen fought in Alsace-Lorraine, Germany and even in Austria.
French did incredible things despite /int/ want to believe.
