For example, I tend to have a small "breakfast" (usually just a granola bar), a medium lunch in the form of leftovers, or a sandwich and maybe some crackers, and then a hearty dinner with maybe a snack a few hours before or after, depending on when dinner is ready.

I'm not sure what you mean by price tag. If its something manufactured abroad or processed from a regional hub (say, clothing with an attached tag), then it makes total sense to have a price tag with no tax. If its prepared food, then yes, its just manipulation of perceived cost.
