I mean yeah whatever works. I just find mnemonics more often than not convoluted. My brain can assign meaning to a given kanji by looking at it pretty readily. I've never had trouble learning meaning associated to characters. Guess that's one of my strengths. Onyomis are impossible without context though. So any time I learn a new kanji (which I'm pretty much past) I would just learn an associated word that uses the onyomi.
