No. I wasn't aware of it until I got into history a couple of years ago. It gets mentioned in history classes, but we don't learn anything about it.
Always when I talk about medieval to early modern history With normies, I have to give a brief explanation of the HRE.

We only learn about it at college history course, and since Brazilian professors are bootlickers who love centralized states, they teach their students that it was bad.
>>
>>53673305
But it was pretty bad though. Everyone hated eachother and got frequently into wars with eachother and it's neighbours. If it was centralized, it probably hadn't been broken up until the late 19th century or something when nationalism blew up.

With the exception of the thirty years war period, when foreigners made it their battleground, the Holy Roman Empire was always the richest, most prosperous and most cultured part of Europe.

>Holy

Blessed by the pope, from catholics point of view it's holy

Spiritual successor to Charlemagne's empire which was in turn spiritual successor to the WRE.

This as a mistranslation. Reich's closest equivalent in English is "Realm".
>>
>>53674804
>Μacedon
>greek

>East ROMAN empire wreek

>Remains of a macedonian empire were greek

>Athenian empire
It didn't even extend outside of greece's borders, how are you gonna shit on the holy roman empire and then try to pass of the athenians as an empire

Holy shit what the fuck is wrong with you
>>
>>53673619
This.

And it didn't really always look like that. But feudalism was so strong in the HRE(and the clusterfuck of the Thirty Years War didn't exactly improve things) so eventually it fell apart into smaller and smaller pieces. Originally it was 5(I think) large duchies forged together by based Otto the Great. And then for a couple of centuries they were the most powerful in all of Europe.
>>
>>53674132
It was when the Habsburgs got into power when shit started to go downhill.

HRE was best in the early centuries when it was north Germans ruling.
>>
>>53675044
Yes, Macedon was greek. Are you that autistic?

I mean, you are probably a fat morrocan living off welfare and shitposting online

Even Byzantium was hugely influenced by Greek culture since the 7th cetury
Also, Alexander hellenzied Asia, this word is even in all history books
>>
>>53676330
>Even Byzantium was hugely influenced by Greek culture
So that makes it a greek empire?
>>
>>53672733
no
>>
>>53676441
Well, it is quite debatable desu
I mean, they spoke Greek, wrote in Greek, had orthodoxy as religion and mostley adapted Hellenic values and principes later on
>>
>>53676743
*principle
>>
You are forced to know about Charlemagne so evidently people will have heard of it
>>
>>53677461
How do French view Charlemagne?
Do they accept that he was German?
>>
>>53677739
Not really. Most people only know that he was an Emperor and that he invented school (not literally)
>>
>holy
as defender of western european christianity, the HRE earned the prefix holy.

>roman
the empire was roman, not the north-alpine people living in it. quite a difference.

>empire
multi-national dominion, rule over a big chunck of the known world, accepted even by the byzantines as coequal... so whats not imperial about it?
>>
>>53678881
>holy
The emperor had his Power granted by the Pope. So it is "holy" in that regard, but after the reformation, it is hard to claim it was the "defender of western catholicism".

>roman
It was a nominal continuation of the Roman empire, like Charlemagne claimed his Kingdom was. It had nothing to do with being roman than claiming to be a continuation of the Roman empire and having it's Power granted by the Pope in Rome.

>Empire
The emperor had virtually no Control over his subjects when Voltaire lived. It was an empire only in name.

The >H>R>E is a bad meme, but to claim it wasn't a clusterfuck that claimed to be something it wasn't and got cucked multiple times by the French and the Turks would be wrong.
>>
>>53678881
None of that matters because it's just shit.
>>
>>53673211
>>53673195
>>53673079
Voltaire was such a cunt.
>>
>>53673514
>Everyone hated eachother and got frequently into wars with eachother and it's neighbours.
Not really. The only major internal war was the Thirty Years War and that was a religious war fueled by foreign powers.
