Depends on the crime. If I shot a cop or stole a car, I'd be a hero in prison. If I was a kid fucker, I'd be in trouble.

Supposed to be pretty boring.

There's some white supremacists and native gangs, but you don't need to associate with them. Native gangs supposedly let in other non whites, but they still call themselves stuff like Indian Posse.

There's this prison, that's minimum security. You have to be older and on good behavior to get sent there. They put on a theater production once a year. Once they did dracula, and a inmate used the coffin as a boat to escape.

I ride a bus by one, I knew a guy who went there, but I cant ask him about it.

English prisons go from category A (the most serious) to category D (the least serious). Cat D prisons can be quite Scandi-tier since they're open prisons with low security and the prisoners are allowed lots of privileges.

They aren't especially bad compared to other countries, but prisons here have a reputation for being inefficient and badly run.

Yes, you would be fucked - not because it's dangerous or anything, but pretty much most prisons in the country are overcrowded at this point, and there's very little security. So in some prisons you even have convicts sleeping in improvised cells in the hallway or 2 convicts in a cell built for only 1 person. It's also very easy to have access to cellphones, cigarettes, TVs, etc. If you really want to, you can even flee pretty easily.

I knew a guy from the village where I was raised in that escaped prison because since he was nice and behaved, the guards let him go outside and grab a coffee or put out the garbage. One day he just decided not to go back. It took almost a week to catch him, they ended up finding him back in his old apartment which was a 5 minute walk from prison. He was in for attempted murder initially.
