I have serious doubts about the freedom of press in the white countries. Do you?

Kek, now that we know about the censoring?
>>
>>53420006
>Freedom of Press in Sweden
their government publically flipped out because they lost control of the press.

There is no difference at all between the yellow and white countries imo, its probably just a bias against the media being polarized
>>
>>53420190
Sweden was the first red flag that tripped me. Also I have very serious doubts about Germany.
>>
Poland is the only free country in the world
>>
Also, I've had discussions with Finnish people who have expressed their concern that the media is too controlled by the state.
>>
>>53420236
I think here it's rather the market that stops the media from independant reporting. Not being enough left-wing damages your image and sales. No need for the government to step in here.
>>
no way Sweden is in the top 100 regarding freedom of press, let alone the top10

most of their newspaper and media are owned by one big jewish group (bonnier) and they actively censor anything going against the multicultural, progressive SJW narrative

Same for Germany where the press waited 4 long days before releasing stories of mass rapes from migrants during NYE

chinese press is probably more independant and balanced than in most west euro countries
>>
I wonder how things are actually in Denmark and Norway. It just seems to me that they slap the ultra-free title on them without much thought. I maybe wrong though, but after the Jyllands-Fun-Posten incident I'd tone down on the "sharp" issues.

Major
>B-but the police didn't tell us!
Police president
>Wtf we did?!
Minister for the internal
>Our police is a failure
Police president
>There weren't even more men we could have sent there. The police patrolled 12-hour sessions in full riot armor. Don't you tell me we didn't do shit!
Major
>You're fired.

At last, they found someone to blame it on.
I have deep respect for our police in these hard times they're going through.
>>
In Sweden, Dagens Nyheter reports that at a popular youth festival "We are Sthlm" sexual abuse has been taken place for over two years, but so far it has been not reported on because... who needs to know kek.
>>
>>53420291
Whaat? German propaganda taught me that your new media law is highly undemocratic and that the government also made some other laws that caused riots and protests.
>>

Not bad

>>53420006
Perhaps the only one I can believe on here is Canada, but this concerns me, how is our press any less free than Canada's?

I'd like to know why
>>
The press is free, but they are also free to not report.
Nothing stops you from reporting all the crimes niggers do.
Here in Finland we have many alternate press who turn every facebookpost about harassment into nigger rape news. http://mvlehti.net

You should look at who owns the newspapers, and ask the owners why they are not reporting immigrant crimes.

Our press is incredibly dishonest, and even if they write an important article about an issue that doesn't fit their liberal political views, they'll hide it under a bunch of other articles and click-bait. It's what happened recently with the two largest papers in the country and the Cologne attacks. If it's the other way around, and the dangerous white man does something, it hits the headers like nothing. Even if it's not their fault, it's just assumed it was whites, such as in asylum burnings that turned out to be accidents by the inhabitants themselves.

Even worse,
>Sweden
The same people who refused to report recent sexual harassment by immigrants at a Swedish festival, where the chief of the police LITERALLY said it was so the Swedish right-wing party wouldn't gain more votes in their favor.
>>
>>53422488
>In the United States, 2014 was marked by judicial harassment of New York Times investigative reporter James Risen in connection with the trial of Jeffrey Sterling, a former CIA officer charged under the Espionage Act with giving him classified information. US journalists are still not protected by a federal shield law that would guarantee their right not to name their sources or reveal other confidential information about their work.

Ok, I guess that makes sense

>Meanwhile, at least 15 journalists were arbitrarily arrested during clashes between police and demonstrators protesting against black teenager Michael Brown’s fatal shooting by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

...
>>
>>53420006
There is no such thing as free press, because everything is sponsored by someone with a set of world views and has employees that he can fire if they write something against his views. And nobody wants to lose their job. The only real free press are internet blogs and nobody reads that, because it's usually full of bullshit anyway.
>>
>>53422578
This is your grave, goyim

Now lie in it
>>
The press is free, the major newspapers just are more or less political even though they don't say so. No one is stopping you from starting a right wing news site or something. This is mostly a problem with tax paid state owned media which should be neutral but really isn't. Journalists also tend to be left wing which the state of the press reflects. Being multiculti is also very trendy right now, lots of publications jump to that train because they think that it makes them money.

So, overall it's more of a problem with honesty than freedom of the press. One of the reasons is that the journalists probably don't even realize that their opinions are political and only opinions because they're so convinced that they're speaking the truth.
>>
>>53422459
>>53422576
I've sensed a similar trend here. Reporters are actually very free to report on anything they choose, but: the mainstream media is filled with reporters with "agendas". Of course they get balanced out by others with opposite "agendas" and the commentaries always shit on them (which is why one of the largest is closing down the comment section). But! I think this tendency to take sides and report using selective words is dangerous. Reporters should report. That's it. Do your fucking job and write about what is happening. Don't take sides...

>>53422578
>arbitrarily arrested
What did they mean by this? Maybe they were just obstructing the law officers from doing their job?

>>
>>53422824
>What did they mean by this? Maybe they were just obstructing the law officers from doing their job?

That's exactly what they were doing though, if I remember correctly
>>
>>53422920
At least we don't pretend that we have muh freee press
>>
>>53422995

>>
>>53420006
>Europe
>free
>>
>>53422576
This isn't really true. Especially VG is happy reporting the ethniceties of the people when anything happens.

Their main problem is their laziness, just copying whatever other news agencies report quite blindly.
>>
>>53422824
Police officers will frequently arrest reporters (and people in general) if they tell them to turn the camera off and they don't.
>>
>>53423566
>turn the camera off
Is there a legit reason why they should?
>>
>>53423665
Not usually, cops just don't like being filmed, even in cases where they aren't doing anything wrong. Some just fear the footage being cropped like the OWS protester that attacked a cop, then a video was released of the cop fighting back without context and everyone bashed the cop for 'beating a protester', but others are corrupt power-hungry cunts that are wrongfully exerting their power and don't want people knowing about it. The person who filmed the cop beating a person for literally no reason at a traffic stop got arrested.
>>
>>53423665
In the case of the hypercasher hostage crisis for example, they were filming around the market and interviewing escapees and such, they were saying live that there were hostages hidden in the backroom, the terrorists could just have tuned into the new channel to learn where the guys were and how the police was intervening
>>
>>53423857
Why are you butthurt that US is yellow?
It makes sense
>>
>>53423962
That I understand, it was a crisis situation and iirc a national code red or whatever was in place so you absolutely had to follow orders from the law, but telling someone on the street to stop filming or taking pics of something going on is in violation of your basic right imho. It's public space ffs.
>>
>>53424011
I'm not? The Estonian poster asked a question, and I answered it. I'm not even defending the practice.
>>
>>53420630
This is the kind of stats made by liberal, it's obvious, Italy has much more freedom of press than that socialist dictatorship that is Sweden
>>
>>53424222
What about Berlusconi controlling so many media and mafia threatening and attcking journalists?

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/aug/06/rise-mafia-attacks-journalists-italy
>>
>>53424074
>ut telling someone on the street to stop filming or taking pics of something going on is in violation of your basic right imho. It's public space ffs
And this is why people who ignore police having zero oversight because it 'mostly effects blacks ' are stupid. Cops can literally kill you because they feel like it, and there's nothing you can do about it.
>>
>>53424332
That sounds pretty fucked. For comparison: here the biggest danger to a reporter is if some drunk asshole calls and complains that he didn't really like the article. Or you get a black eye while going out from someone trying to reaffirm his manliness to the lads...

>>53424376
That sounds even more fucked. Getting ripped by someone who is supposed to uphold the law.
>>
>>53424332
>Berlusconi controlling so many media
There's a leftist bias in most of the media, that's enough to disprove that "Berlusconi controls many media" (the truth is that he *owns* *some*).

>and mafia threatening and attcking journalists
This is an external factor, it's not the state that forbids you from writing what you want and of course what mafia does it's illegal. We could then say that France is not free because of what happened to Charlie Hebdo, but that's stupid.
>>
>>53424619
>This is an external factor
Bullshit. It limits the freedom of the reporter to do his/her job. That's about as internal as it gets.
>>
>>53424681
Then France is not free because of what I said, Germany is not free because you can't talk about Holocaust denial and stuff, and about Sweden: >>53420630
There's no reason Sweden and Germany get a better color than Italy and France. Germany is the worst actually, because it's the government itself that limits your freedom. Also I'm pretty sure that Germany is not the only supposedly free country in which the government limits certain kind of opinions, but I don't have enough info.
>>
>>53424933
Agreed.
>>
>>53424933
>but I don't have enough info.
But that doesn't limit you from speaking out of your arse obviously.
>>
>>53420006
>freedom to shut down commentaries because they're anti-rapefugee
>>
>>53425622
That has nothing to do with press freedom. Enabling or disabling shitposting in the commentaries doesn't enhance nor diminish freedom. Nor does it have anything to do with freedom of expression >inb4.
>>
>>53425421
I was talking about the other countries for which I didn't say anything, it's well known that Holocaust denial is illegal in Germany.
>>
>>53424619
>muh leftist bias
Corrupt right-wing media mogul was thrice a PM of your country. Such conflict of interests is very dangerous.

Yeah, I do think that terrorists killing journalist is detrimental to the freedom of press.
>>
>>53425772
That is well known. But for the rest you are talking out of your arse, not even bothering to read what the ranking is about.
>>
>>53425793
>muh leftist bias
>let me tell you about your country

>Corrupt right-wing media mogul was thrice a PM of your country. Such conflict of interests is very dangerous.
Yet this didn't prevent the people from writing all the shit they wanted about him, like his association with mafia. Also, we were higher in the chart when Berlusconi was the PM.

>>53425850
>not even bothering to read what the ranking is about.
About "freedom of press". I don't care what kind of method they use to calculate that, because it's clearly not objective, that's what I'm saying.
>>
>>53426192
>it's clearly not objective
I beg to differ. The calculations are objective. Maybe the principles of what factors to select and how to weight them for the calculations are not entirely objective... how could they... they are chosen by human being so they are inherently subjective. BUT you can't simply dismiss the results as a whole, which definitely are indicative of freedom to a margin... be it so untrustworthy as it is to (You).
>>
>>53420006
another bullshit ranking
