Like youtube but with a select Library of movies and TV shows that are legally uploaded. But they're still crippled by copyright. American, British, and Canadian netflix will all have different content available. Some people use proxies to see other countries content and the entertainment industry still calls us pirates even though we pay for the service kek.
>>
>>53236824
Streaming. Pretty good considering it costs basically nothing.
>>
>>53236824

>>53237155

>tfw the qt red head still hasn't reappeared
>>
>>53237438
>For what purpose may i even need it?
Because you can watch tvs and movies whenever you want without ads or downloading and it costs basically nothing in real countries.

Might be like a weeks wages in the third world though for all I know.
>>
>>53237438
You probably don't. I think aside from a few countries they just wanted to become international. You might not even have access to any good shows because copyright. But I think they had a two week free trial here so you could always sign up and just watch what's not shit in that time for temporary easy streaming.
>>
>>53237695

>>
>>53237778
At that point you may as well just torrent to make your life easier.

>>53237839
No, it costs money. It became popular because it's cheap. I think the price increased to 10 or 8 dollars a month in Canada, I forget. Basic Cable (which is 14 channels of garbage) will run you 55 dollars a month at least here so Netflix became a popular legal alternative for streaming.
>>
>>53237839
Every country has a different lineup of shows and movies, you can use a proxy to switch between lineups and get everything. It's better than torrents because it's instant and usually quality.

And no it's not free (though it sounds like you guys get a free month of it) but it is cheap as fuck. 8 dollars a month.

Prices here are from 7.99 to 11.99 euros.
That's not a lot,but it's ridiculously high for basically nothing.
>>53237695
It's really retarded. For 12 euro per month i can get 75 mb/s Internet and just download shit 24/7.

And most of movies from 1960 to now.
>>

>>
It's Spotify for films and series. Quite overpriced though, they should do like Spotify did - that is cut prices by half. Then I'd subscribe.
>>
>>53238193
It is literally nothing like pirate bay

>implying you have electricity long enough during the day to stream a movie or download a torrent
>>
>>53236881
Are you hulu user? :D
>>
>>53238075
Internet in Canada is pretty bad, we have bandwidth caps and it gets quite expensive. Cable is extremely expensive here and increasingly unpopular due to shitty content and ads.

It's cheaper to have a shitty internet package + Netflix for some easy streaming when you're bored. Like it has all seasons of X-Files right now. I don't want to dig up torrents and store 9 seasons on a hard drive. I just use torrents for movies mostly since their selection isn't as good.

So it works okay in Canada, but might not be so good in your country. I'd still take advantage of the free month for some lazy streaming.

>>53238086
So does it look like a good deal in Poland? I don't understand.

They don't rely on traditional television ratings schemes, i.e. advertisement sales, so they can invest in risky, but high-quality television. Netflix's original programming is so much better than any television network.

Some of our internet infrastructure is piggy backing your guy's stuff too. Also when we do build new things the government helps pay for it and then we still get raped on costs. Even if we ripped everything out and put new everything in I honestly doubt things would improve on the consumer end. Mobile phone, cable, and internet is pretty fucked up in this country and all attempts from the government to stop monopolies manipulating prices have failed.

great service with a ton of movies/tv series to watch finally internationally instead of having to pirate shit.

Plus Netflix has began making cool shows like jessica jones and daredevil and probably more.

i think it's a lot easier to wire internet to commieblock structures than to spread out suburban houses, especially with the prevalence of NIMBYs

i would be curious to see how speeds compare in non-metropolitan Romania, Poland etc
>>
>>53239653
Why would i pay anything when i can stream any movie or series without even downloading it(i could i just don't feel like it since i only watch them once) i want and download any song ever for free

Pretty good.

Are you fucked?
>>53240853
Nah,it's non-functional and people just use it as a storage.
>>
>>53240947
Downtown areas and our "commie blocks" (condos/ apartment buildings) neighbourhoods have terrible internet here too.

Worst Internet I've ever used was in a newly built college dormitory I lived in that was maybe 30 floors. It was also on a campus based around technology. Even the ugly commie blocs looked nicer then that shit hole.
>>
>$8/hour

Come on people, that's like what, one hour work? You can't be that poor.

I'm aware of limitations in certain countries but you can bypass that by putting a VPN in your router, or simply use Hulu.
Here's a free fast VPN: https://tvunblock.com/

when I lived in Manhattan it wasn't like that but I lived close the NYSE so we had REALLY fast speeds

I think it really depends on where you are located. the infrastructure is extremely expensive to replace so unless there's a really good profit motive the businesses aren't going to spend the millions of dollars it would take just to bring fibre to a town of 100 residents. Some of those towns are self-organizing though, I think some town in Tennessee? formed its own internet utility and wired the town w/ fibre so they now have 1 Gbps

It's for women and other people too dumb to use torrents.
>>
>>53241282
It's for people that can't be arsed to download shit when they can stream it in HD instantly.
I don't always have to be home to watch it either

Netflix is alright if you have a lot of devices that can use it. The content varies from month to month.

I wouldn't really bother with it if you dont have such devices though.
>>
>>53241230
Some smaller towns help pay for their own improvements here too. But big cities, especially the core areas do have stuff in place. Often the government helped fund upgrades but consumers still have to pay heavy prices to access those improvements. Otherwise you're put in the mud barrel with everyone else.

>>53241282

The series was made by the Wachowski broth... sry, siblings, it's a story of 8 people who have some kind of telepatic connection and they have to fight against an evil organisation, the premise is interesting, but for me it was quite boring.

>Iraqi poetry

A Boy Is Worth More Than a Girl

For young boys, the girls I've left behind
And for old wine set clear water out of mind.
Far from the straight road, I took without conceit
The winding way of sin, because this horse
Has cut the reins without remorse,
And carried away the bridle and the bit.

Here I am, fallen for a faun,
A dandy who butchers Arabic.
His forehead, brilliant like a full moon,
Chases away the black night's gloom.
He cares not for shirts of cotton
Nor for the Bedouin's hair coat.

He sports a short tunic over his slender thighs
But his shirt is long of sleeve.
His feet are well-shod, and under his coat
You can glimpse rich brocade.

He takes off on campaign and rides to attack
Casting arrows and javelins;
He hides the ardor of war, and his
Attitude under fire is magnanimous.

Comparing a young boy to a young girl,
I am ignorant.
And yet, how can you mix up some bitch
Who goes in monthly heat
And drops a litter once a year
With him I see on the fly.

How I wish he would come
Return my greeting.
I reveal to him all my thoughts
Without fear of the imam, or of the muezin.

Abu-Nuwas al-Hasan ben Hani Al-Hakami (756–814)

In the Bath-house

In the bath-house, the mysteries hidden by trousers
Are revealed to you.
All becomes radiantly manifest.
Feast your eyes without restraint!
You see handsome buttocks, shapely trim torsos,
You hear the guys whispering pious formulas
to one another
("God is Great!" "Praise be to God!")
Ah, what a palace of pleasure is the bath-house!
Even when the towel-bearers come in
And spoil the fun a bit.

Not particularly in him, but two weeks ago I read "The Renaissance of Islam" by Swiss historian Adam Mez and it contained some surprisingly gay Arabic poems.
