Why does Australia have an Emu on their Coat of Arms? Aren't Emoos their sworn enemies?
The only theory I can think of is that the Australian government was forced to add the Emu to the Coat of Arms as a compromise for peace when negotiating with the victorious Emu High Command at the end of the war.

Read a book you Gook Its like the Mongols in Vietnam whilst we did loose militarily the Emus still realised that continuing to fight against the Commonwealth would ulimtatley end poorly for them, all the more so as the burdens on the Australian people from the great depression began to diminish.
So after the Peace of Perth, they sent delegates to Sydney which began the second constitutional convention, and which ultimately saw them become members of the Commonwealth on terms favorable to them. What it effectively did was grant them the right to self governance in exchange for demobilisation and their co-operation in patrolling+maintaining the Great Rabbit Proof Fence.
nice thread

As an addendum to this the only real loser of the war were the Dingos and Rabbits. The Rabbits loosing their freedom caused by the conflict and the Dingos as they were no longer able to leverage one side against the other, which ultimatly saw them reduced to a threatened species /

Because Emus and Kangaroos are unable to walk backwards, which thus represent Australia constantly moving forward.
