They've improved a lot since the early 2000's (When I saw HP: The Chamber of Secrets the projector caught fire and the building had to be evacuated) and they're still cheap as fuck but I live on the other side of town closer to a proper chain cinemas who show way more movies at way more times nowadays

As a side note regarding disaster stories at a theater, when I was seeing Rat Race at a theater in Santa Barbara back in 2001 we had to evacuate the theater because some teens decided to pump laughing gas into the AC intake area outside the theater. Don't think that would've done anything, but still an odd story
