Daily reminder: Nordic countries are 1st world on paper, the behavior of people in public is 3rd world.
Here are some of my observations -
1. Slam doors in peoples faces, push away baby strollers just to pass, squeezing your selves by me instead of saying excuse me so I can move, to pick your nose in public, spitting on the street, hitting people with purses and shopping baskets. Rudeness is not culture, it’s the lack of it.
2. Train etiquette, people seem to be scared that they’ll be left behind if they don’t charge forward at the people trying to get off the train, weird indeed but true. At first I thought this can only be a minority, maybe some poor suckers with mummy daddy issues, but no, every man and his dog (literally) do this. You could get jailed in Japan for such behavior.
3. The Swedes stare at you so much it makes you uncomfy and when you notice and smile or nod at them, they look at the ground frowning.
4. The customer service does in most cases NOT exist. How dare I step into H&M and ask the snobby looking salesperson something, Can’t I see she’s busy looking for shoplifters or talking to her coworkers!? It’s H&M wake the fuck up and smell the coffee, you don’t work at Armani or what have you.
6. People wear flip flops or walk barefoot in the gym
7. People snus and throw the used packet on the streets; same with cigarette butt litter.
8. With gym etiquette, no one has sweat towels!
9. Noone here has any civil courage, you can seriously get beaten on the middle of the streets in a city on the daytime and everyone will walk past you
