Artist is a Calarts student who got an internship at Pixar. What's the difference between this and chicken scratching?

Stop being such a little bitch
Do it on paper, gesture draw
Stop looking for shit to complain about
Draw on paper first

the difference is that they got into CalArts and interned at Pixar so their chicken scratching holds more weight than yours you fucking nobody
this looks a lot more alive than just a clean gesture imo sometimes a sketchier look is better when it comes to conveying form

There is no difference.
You might have had a point if you'd posted a good artist, rather than this incompetent fuck.
I find there is a different type of "chicken scratch" I sometimes use - but I call it 'searching'. Usually it's when I don't have a specific pose or, even a specific subject, in mind, but I want to see what comes out of the scribbles.
Chicken scratch is a bad habit, and in a way it is therapeutic to do the repeating lines, but you can usually tell when it's done by an amateur. It could be that OP person just held on to the habit. Their lines seem more purposeful than some of the crap I see.

I'm assuming this artist can choose to not chicken scratch on another artwork given more time.

Chicken scratch is the dunnig-kruegars greatest weapon. They call everything that isn't a finished line-art chicken scratch. Even if the lines are confident with a clear start and finish.
OP isn't chicken scratch, their only "problem" is sketching with a pen. if this was pencil you wouldn't even see the lighter gestural lines underneath.
So many people here greatly over-use the term.
You need to read the book in pic related. Chicken scratch is lack of line confidence. This person does not suffer from that affliction.

I wanted to hate on this person, but I saw some of her other stuff that looked a lot more competent (although she does do that hideous 90s angular Disney style), I think she just sucks at sketching with a pen though.

Unironically this.

It's a one minute gesture, not visdev stuff
You are meant to feel and explore the pose, not create a pretty picture.
