So I've been practicing daily for 3 years now and I've gotten pretty good at drawing anime. I've mostly been posting my work on a public blog and I always get messages about how people say I improved so much blah blah and they can't wait to see more progress from me. When I initially started my blog, I posted all my work but overtime I started posting less and less because people were expecting better work so in order to meet that demand i posted only my best stuff.

Anyway, lately I want to get out of my comfort zone. I normally post animations and rough sketches but now I want to paint but I just can't bring myself to do it. There are these thoughts in the back of my head that go "Oh, he's been at this for 3 years and his painting skills are still so trash, wow what an autistic loser" I'm sure not EVERYONE is gonna think like that but still I can't get it out of my head.

Initially, everything I drew was shit so I didn't care either way but now that I've developed a comfort zone, it's hard to stray from it. Thoughts?

then dont upload it

If I don't plan on uploading it then I have no reason to make it in the first place. For me, art is an expression. There is no point in expressing yourself if you're gonna keep it to yourself.
>>
>>3123220
wanna know how i know you're an attention whoring roastie?
>>
Go on.
>>
Yo. Let me help you out. Forget the blog shit. It doesn't matter. You think that art is made to be shared but as an artist you have to 1) Know when its ready. If you look at it and dont feel its "good enough" based on your gut, just keep it to yourself. Artists dont show literally 100% of the work they make. Thats retarded. People have pages and pages and pages of shit they never showed anyone. The point of practice is to practice. Its a logical fallacy to think you have to make a masterpiece and upload it online every single time you go to make a piece.
2) Do not care about what people think. Yes, the point is expressionism and conveying feelings to other people blah blah. Taste is subjective and you will ALWAYS have someone who doesnt like your work. It is an impossibility to make something that is universally liked by everyone. You need to realize this and get over caring what people think. 3 years is not a lot of time and youre essentially an advanced beginner right now.
Seriously you are thinking about this shit way too fucking much dude. Just draw because you enjoy doing it for yourself or don't do it at all. Cry and you cry alone, smile and the world smiles with you. Stop whining and just do the shit

lmao

Get out of your comfort zone. Think of all the things you can do, all the doors that open, if you get out of your comfort zone.

Is this you?: https://nachooz.deviantart.com/

You're doing fine. The problems are all in your head.
>>
I'm just gonna guess
>>3123201
is not your work
and neither is
>>3123238
>>
Quit thinking you matter, and that "everyone" is thinking about you and your progress as an artist. I promise you that no one cares.

kys
>>
>>3123228
Logically, your post makes a lot of sense. And I agree with all your points. Sadly, humans beings aren't dictated by logic alone. >>3123238
I guess I'll try to detach from my work and post all the cringey work. No, it isn't my work.
>>3123249
People do though. I mean look how many threads were made about Nosebro's lack of improvement or firez or sycra or vetyr and the dozens of artists that get shitted on this board daily. >>3123518
I probably will one day. Gotta make it until 30 first though.
>>
>>3123201
Well done for working so hard
>>
>>3123526
>can't stand people don't liking his stuff
Grow some balls.
>>
i think you should practice painting a bit first then when youre comfortable you can post it. whats your blog called ?
>>
>>3123535
Classic trolling there anon
>>
I have the opposite problem.
I never post anything online, but just put it off for "when I get good".
>>
>>3123220
So you're a pompous fag?
>>
>>3123526
They get shit on by /ic/, not by their followers. And Vetyr and Sycra have thousands of them.
>>

>"Oh, he's been at this for 3 years and his painting skills are still so trash, wow what an autistic loser"

do you understand that the animator its a specialist and the guy coloring the animation or the guy doing the background art are pretty much all the time, different professionals?
don't follow the half-assed jack off all trades tumblr animator out there. if you want to be like them then just post less and less like the guys making web comics that never pass the introductory stage. or kys, not the first artist to do that.

do the same thing as me

I have 2 paperholders for drawing, one ''good drawings'', and one ''trow-away drawings''

when I feel like I can do a good drawing, I draw directly on my ''good'' paper, when i want to try something new, I am not sure I will make a good drawing, or I just want to draw but with no pressure of making a good drawing I draw on the ''trow away paper''

I destroy and not show to anybody my trow-away paper, and if I make a drawing I like on it, I copy it on the good paper. I get to keep my good drawings, I don't put stress on myself when I want to just doodle, and I give myself reasons to redo some drawings from time to time

you can do the same as me with your blogs, have one for good drawings, and one for trow-away drawings. You don't even need to hold a secret the fact that both of them are yours, the fact that you separate the drawings like that will force you to draw more while putting no stress on you
