Im really excited and cant wait to go into figure drawing classes inb4 " art school is pointless and a scam!!"

They won't teach you shit, you gotta self teach then apply that to the project you're given. Luckily art schools give you a lot of freedom and spare time to do what you want, it's up to you to spend that student finance on online courses and real life workshops. Start researching and building up a list of those opportunities.
Remember Art School is only useless if you make it useless, use the facilities and always apply to the opportunities given to you. Don't skip an optional life drawing session just because you're not feeling it that day, push yourself and you're work.
When you first start you'll either be in three categories.
>time waster - there but can't draw and doesn't want to learn, they stick to their "style"
>catching up - you're not the best but you're willing to learn people/tutors will either generally ignore you including tutors and teachers
>the "greats" you're one of the few best in the class, expect favoritism from the tutors and passive hatred from you're fellow pupils and people sucking up to you
Work on personal projects outside of class and go on drawing trips, don't use you're free time to waste hanging out with friends at the cinema. You can do this every now and then, but make it a reward for hard work rather than just because you can't be bothered with drawing.
Other than that, make a finance list on what you're spending and be smart. Here's my finance plan for this next term coming up, along with a project template which you can change to whatever you're interested in.

You'll know when you get there, just don't let it get to you're head if you are and always be willing to help other students. The more you help them the less likely they are the hate you behind you're back. Just be positive and goodluck.

Don't be evil anon.

I started art school too recently, and
the three categories thing is true I think. It's weird how the time wasters pretend to be the people trying to catch up. Like they'll complain/ brag about drawing for 4 hours straight.
Follow up to the first anon but with a different approach. Freshman here, from what I gathered in one semester - relationships will take you places more than trapping yourself alone to study. The only way you can learn and keep yourself motivated to learn is if you're having fun doing it, anon. Being nice, approachable, and ready to compliment/critique other people's work will take you much farther in your life rather than building up too many hours of work that will eventually lead to burnout. Everything is in moderation.
Also, eat healthy foods (your veggies, fruits, minimal caffeine, drop soda; replace it with water). Don't rush assignments, attend figure drawing and after school activities with the benefits in mind. Yeah, we may not need art school to be amazing; but take with it what we can (for all I know you could be there for only a year)!
