Fiona Staples does a great job with the art and Brian K. Vaughan is really great creating deep worlds with weighty characters. The only gripe most people have with him is his ability to tie loose ends or conclude his stories properly. I personally don't he's that bad at it tho.

Anyways give it a shot, you could find it all online like you would with manga. It's a quick google search away.

For big ones i recommend Harpy Gee just because it's my favorite of the bigguns. I prefer the smaller indie webcomics though. The popular ones are good but it's more satisfying to interact with the artist of comics that aren't too big for them to respond to comments on. I'd just keep my eyes peeled of I were you. There are small webcomics just dying to be read that are as good, if not better than, the popular ones.

Eh I read it the article you recommended and it just made me think less of whoever wrote it. Really? Twokinds is bad because or eroticized anthropomorphic animals? Umm, that's every cartoon that ever had an animal character. And the bestiality criticism is just bullshit too. It's a cartoon. A fantasy cartoon. Cross breeding happens in fantasy so much. I'm sure Twokinds isn't a masterpiece (most of the images I saved from it I use only as ironic reaction memes) but the criticisms I read were weak, prudish, and subjective af.

Are you sure you got the RIGHT article? Because the main complaint was pretty much just the awful, shitty incredibly racist writing, along with the intense fetish stuff which basically makes the characters feel like lifeless dolls to harden the PP of the giant asshole who is Tom Fischbach.

And not every cartoon with an animal character is just eroticized. Like, really far from it. Have you read freefall? digger?

Did you mean this one? If you did then the bulk of it hits me as the reviewer going on a tangent about Fischback (or whatever) drawing furries with sex appeal. To me the argument against sex appeal comes off as a reach for moral high ground like people complaining about Powergirl's outfit or Zatanna. Like, if you don't like sexy shit just don't read comics with sexy characters. I dunno, it just doesn't strike me as a valid criticism.
(You are right that not everything with anthros is sexualised though. What I meant was that most cartoons with animals have animal characters who are portrayed as being more attractive than the other characters, or hot or sexy. Animaniacs does it, Tiny Toons does it, Gumball does it, etc. What I was trying to say was that even benign cartoons will portray animal characters in ways the character designers, producers, and audience understand as attractive.)
The other points in the article are valid ones though, like not pushing certain themes and plots as far as they can go and badly written stuff. The racism part wasn't really explained very clearly though. Was it racism against black people for not portraying slavery the way it was in US history? Or was it racism against whites by portraying them as blind bigots and totalitarians? Maybe I skimmed over that part but I didn't see it explained very clearly.
I'm not saying Twokinds is great (or even good), just that some of the criticisms against it aren't very good either.

The "Whites are a superior race" thing is definitely true.

Those weird japanese clones have all their stereotypes true.

The point is, if you want to make an anti-racist comic, which Twokinds tries to be, the awful stereotypes about different races have to be false, so you can say "we're really not all that different, we should all get along!"

Also, yea, having some characters more attractive than others is fine. But when you have things like CHANGING SEX AND POINTING OUT THIS CHANGED FURRY-MAN'S BUTT HEART, MAKING THIS LAST FOR MULTIPLE PAGES it no longer falls under the category of "storytelling and jokes and character design" and is moved into the "softcore porn" category.
