I think that stealing a single pose you like is fine, as long as you're graceful about it, a pose isn't really an idea and there are only so many ways you can position the human body, but ripping off multiple panels wholesale is just scummy.

If you go ahead and say from the start "I'm doing a re imagining of this other person's work in my own style" that's fine (if you aren't selling it without permission), but if the person is claiming that this is an entirely original work, or didn't make it clear they were using somebody else's compositions, they're a douche.

Whether or not you redo the artwork in your own style, coming up with good compositions is one of the most difficult parts, which is why it's a shitty, lazy thing to just steal them from somebody else's art.

Personally i don't think that copying a basic pose is wrong, because it's basically just the wireframe of your artwork. But you shouldn't copy things in greater detail.

Also, i want to mention that "tracing" and "copying" are different things. Tracing usually means you draw over the existing lines while copying is making a drawing in a similar fashion. It just kinda annoys me that nobody never uses the right terminology.

There's nothing incorrect with these, there's a thing called "patenting", if you don't claim ownership over x thing, it's considered free domain. And 99% of people would never patent a damn pose.

All you can say about this artist is that he's not innovative. Which is fine, because creating does not require uniqueness, just usefulness. And for this artist's vision, it gets the job done.

Not traced, but obviously heavily referenced/plagiarised. It's not really something you can do anything about because it's not ripping off 1 thing in particular, but it's something that's a bit shameful of an artist for sure.
If I ever referenced a pose 1:1 of someone else's work like this I'd be ashamed. There's a difference between having an idea/inspiration and semi referencing to get a pose down vs just redrawing someone else's work. This is the latter.

Left looks objectively more appealing as the stylisation allows us to look past these flaws thanks to letting us focus on the much better rendering. Say what you want but working in black and white didn't benefit much the Japanese in terms of appealing aesthetics.
