With the advent of literally dozens of online meet-up sites. You can find yourself a Clown Gal no problem. Although, this is of the main topic.
I would just practice with fine point sharpies. To learn how to put proper pressure using ink without bleeding of dodging. When working with ink like with most wet media. You have to free-flow and lift to prevent overflow. I always like doodling using a fine point marker. Working with permanent media is good discipline as well.
