HOW THE FUCK DO I DRAW HANDS AND FEET
>>
>Find way to abstract them with simple shapes and learn their proportions compared to the rest of the body
>Apply what you know from perspective to draw them in different angles, foreshortened, etc
>Learn how they are structure and work (range of movement, anatomy, etc)
Shit's simple, is that too hard for you?
>>
I know what you mean. I always have trouble cramming all the fingers in and getting them all the right length. The hand is almost like a body unto itself
>>
Why does it seem like its easier to draw a whole body than one hand?
>>
>>3102432
Concentration of joints and muscles within the overall form. The hand crams a ton of very mobile shit into a very small area, which is why it's so easy to fuck up.
>>
Loomis faggot
>>
I recommend reading the hand section (assuming you aren't bad at drawing the body, otherwise read the whole book) on Michael Hampton's Design and Invention, he'll teach you the "mechanical" way of the hand. Then go to George Bridgman's section on the hand on "Complete Guide to Drawing from Life". He'll teach you basically everything else.

And remember to do a shitload of studies afterwards, of course.

Loomis hand lectures are absolute garbage.

one of these pose-able hands is a big help
>>
>>3102714

why do people always recommend this gimmicky shit when you can literally look at your own fucking hand?
>>
>>3102743
Because you have to make sure you're not moving your own hand around too much and some poses would be painful to maintain while drawing and others you just couldn't get a very good look at because of the position of the hand.
>>
>>3101838
Draw amputees instead
>>
>>3101838
Step 1
>Look at Hands
Step 2
>Draw hands
Step 3
>Repeat
>>
>>3102749
>make sure you're not moving
drawing moving objects its the secret to get gut
see davinci
>>
>>3101838
Hand is a wedge with a triangle on the side and a bunch of french fries sticking out

Feet are like 3 differently sized wedges, and some tater tots coming out of the front if you want toe details.
>>
>>3105512
Vitruvian man was static poses layered on top of each other to understand the range of motion. Davinci was about understanding how things moved more than studying them in movement. And proportions.
>>
>>3101838
Lmao I stopped having trouble with that like last year.

Get fucking good, faggot.
>>
>>3101838

1. look through inspiration folder
2. look through porn ref folder
3. look through photo ref folder
4. put everything that might work on a pureref canvas
5. copy paste refs into your painting, and trace the hand modifying it a little as far as your skill allows
6. profit

literally how i make a living.
>>
>>3105523
yeah, he was into that but he also wrote in his books that he used to sketch walking people/cats on the streets and when home finish it off, and that drawing from moviment is the key to knowing how to draw
>>
>>3105618
that's retarded just draw the hand

>>3105523 why do you feel the need to post when you have no idea what you are talking about?

feet, brague plates
hands, i think understanding the sort of 'stock poses' for hands is more important than people think. like when you draw a hand it's usually in one of only a few poses because hands are usually doing specific things in pictures like holding something, and there are poses that make hands look good. so i think you should practice those 'hand-poses' and then it's easy enough to modify them for specific instances where you need a more unique pose.
>>
>>3101838
pose your hand in the way you want it in your picture, grab a sheet of paper, study its CONSTRUCTION, once you get it draw it from different angles, now draw it in your final illustration.
>>
>>3105512
>drawing moving objects its the secret to get gut
>see davinci

Not trying to be a dick, but instead of suggesting DaVinci why not suggest some Futurist painters like Giacomo Balla or similar, who actually attempted to capture motion in their works?
>>
>>3105667
read>>3105634
>>3105648

he did not try to capture moviment but he saw as the key to understanding things
>>
I just learn to draw my own hand at first to know how hands should look and work in 2D projection. As far as feet go. I'd say draw your own, but from at that angel it wouldn't work out unless your double jointed. You can always ask a friend to pose their feet for you to draw. Just say it is for foot fetishists.
>>
>>3105606
>been drawing for 6 years
>LMAO only took me half a decade to draw good hands

pffft
>>
>>3105606

Thats actually helpful
>>
Hampton Figure Drawing, do the hands section. Hands aren't hard as long as you understand perspective and proportion.
>>
Construction, bro. It all gets easier when you learn how to construct.

>>3102714
I've always been wary of these things, since they don't have the full natural range of motion and you can't observe the stretching/compression of the flesh and skin. Seems like a path toward drawing stiff and static-looking hands (and figures for the body models).
