Steep learning curve, not worth the cost. The core features are the same as in any app, like Photoshop or free painting apps. Most of what sets it apart from other apps is mostly gimmicky special effects.

it's probably the best painting program. it has stability issues on pc though. i would use it if my computer would let me.

>like Photoshop
What?

It's totally different to PS.

If you are used to painting similar to traditional style, such as oil or acrylic painting then painter feels quite nice. The brushes are pretty great, just need to find the ones that fit you the most, the blending on them is great, but there are many annoyances in UI, basic editing. For example photoshop feels quite lackluster in terms of brushes and their use when in comparison but the vast customization pretty much gives you the tools for whatever you might ever need. I have both programs, right now I'm trying to see if I can get photoshop brushes that would feel to me more of the basic ones I used in painter. As for stability issues someone mentioned, I'm not sure, I haven't had any issues but I might not have used the program for long enough to really tell.

Favorite brushes out of any program. But it's slow and glitchy with every release and their UI is puke. If you can find an older version (like X3 or 11,10,9,8) then great. Anything beyond that on a modern machine (besides corel 12) is ass. Zooming in/out always leaves an invisible vertical streak. The move/transform/edit tools are a joke. Some of its gimmicks like clone draw make it feel like a grannies digital scrapbook. Not enough learning resources or documentation from a community. Any community behind corel are hobbyist moms who <3 to turn photos into paintings :-o :-).

But for some reason the Chinese love this program.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
