It's less that and more a simple logistics issue. If you finally "git gud", gud enough to drawfag on other boards or work on your own art or make commissions, why the FUCK would anyone waste their time staying on /ic/? This is why most of the "experts" on /ic/ are either antisocial autists who have the talent but lack the social skills to make it in the art world, attention whores who have an intense desire for praise or some other similar personality defect that keeps them on /ic/ despite their successes (temporarily), or NGMIs spewing actual bullshit.
