PLEASE READ ME !
Mission: The purpose of this thread is to allow the community to learn together and provide accountability for interested Anons. We will go through lessons and books together to provide us with some structure. Through these experiences we will find how we compare to our peers; which will hopefully drive us to improve and add credibility to critiques. Artists of all levels can join. For those that are not interested, you don't have to join.

>Update: Ok, so our last thread seemed fairly popular. We do have a some people who seemed interested which is good, so I'll continue making these threads.

>Hopefully you all finished the required readings and lesson1 of DABox. If you didn't finish, that's okay, just post your late work in this thread and we'll critique it.

Curriculum: Due before next Tuesday.
>Draw A Box: Lesson 2
- Make sure to do all the parts IN ORDER.
Self Critique for DABox: http://drawabox.com/lesson/2/selfcritique
>Ernest Norling perspective made easy
- Read parts 7 to 12 (Read through part 12).
>Gnomon: Scott Robertson
http://list.youku.com/albumlist/show/id_26583094.html?sf=20100

BEFORE YOU POST YOUR WORK!: If you have more than 5 pages I recommend you upload to Imgur. You can still post your FIRST FIVE pages on here, but post the rest on Imgur... or don't, it's your choice.

>After Posting Your Work Remember To Critique Others Work. Pay It Forward. Thank you very much!

I hope this takes off and hopefully this will help you. Thank you very much Anons!

A bunch of people liked my idea and made spin of threads. I believe the first one was the community study anatomy thread.

How do I archive a thread?

Go to warosu.org and search for the post. Make a google docs or something with all of the links in it.

I'll stand with this anon, although there is probably a better method to this than using 4chan as the platform. You should use something else, some simple forum or something. Maybe a discord channel and only use this to promote it. I'll join it though.

Try Hamptons books, less reading. Additionally you could try to do Proko, only problem is Proko is all over the place but you could use his videos to kinda see some of the steps that might be tricky in Hampton's book.

Still crap but I like the arrow exercises they are pretty fun
I'd post more here but it's hard since I got banned and have to use my phone for scanning and converting all the files and disconnect from my wifi every 5 seconds
Heres a of some arrows. Still not good but I'm starting to understand it more

Hello how are y'all doing today?
Been doing the organic forms with contour lines part for a bit today. Tried out some weird shapes but I figured it'd be better to get the simple shapes down pat first.
Still not as good as I'd like but it's fun so that's ok.
>>
I've been following this topic for a little while and've really been enjoying the work posted.

thanks very much for the setup, op.

I've completed 2.5 pages so far, but found this at a pretty bad time, since I'll be out of town and unavailable for a week and a half, but here's hoping the topic'll stay alive till I'm back and can drop off the first assignments and collect the next. Stay well, guys.

Are you fucking serious. No wonder you guys "grind" for years and never improve.

Protip: you have to get out of your comfort zone to learn anything. Drawing hundreds of cubes is an absolute and total waste of time.
>>
>>3105583
Excuse me sir this is a Christian board so no swearing please.
But seriously it's just an exercise. No one here is just drawing boxes for years and expecting to draw people perfectly

When I was drawing these I was out of my comfort zone. I hated drawing every single one of those cylinders. The after around 150 I started to like drawing boxes. The exercise did help me to understand perspective more and what the human eye can actually see.

Nope, no stabilizer, I grind my lines until they became good.

Followed this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1lleIBzn3A

Grinding does work. I did the same for the circles I made with the cylinders, they are all free hand, made in clip studio paint with no stabilizer.
>>
Anyway, is anyone doing any homework ? This is what the thread is for in the first place. So we can become better..

Did a couple more dissections. These are pretty fun to do.
>>
>>3107518
Chicken scratch.
<-- If you're shading use contour lines. Your crosshatching makes your forms look flat.

I suggest you stop and go do lesson 1. Do all the exercises for lesson 1.

I literally only just tried drawing them and the only thing that comes to mind as application is hair movement, maybe a scarf in the wind. From what I see when you hear arrow most people think line arrow, What I was thinking was more along the lines of the ribbons in ribbon dancing for some reason.

Thanks. I do try my best and I will get good even if it kills me. I still think they need work. If you see any areas where I can improve feel free to point it out. Gonna do the blobs exercise now.
>>
>>3111000
Hahaha, that happened to me too anon. Just try to get back in the groove by drawing some circles then slowly get back to where you were, that's what I did.
>>
Alright, so I did lesson 2 organic forms with contour lines 2 pages. One with contour lines and the other with contour curves. Didn't do contour ellipses because I just finished drawing a shit ton of ellipses for cylinders. The next one I am going to attempt is dissection I want to see how It will turn out for me.

your texture is to even, its the same everywhere which makes it boring
look at the op, in the focal point the scales are darker and more plentiful and the further it goes the lighter they become

also pic related, theres lots of hair on the edges and it becomes less in the middle
