Do you like to draw insects, /ic/?
>>3088310
is this your drawing? that's some fine hatching
>>3088347
Yeah, mine. I have some more. Gimme a few.
>>3088350
post rhino or stag beetle if you got them, fucking love those buggers
>>3088353
Like this?
>>3088354
yes noice. do you just draw as a hobby or do you plan to illustrate for books or something like that
>>3088361
Just a hobby, I guess. Picked it up again after a few years of seldomly drawing.

what?
One last ugly bugger for now.
Doing some more, hopefully I get some front perspective ones right.
Forgot pic.
Good stuff, post more! Saved

Thanks.
Quick sketch of a wasp, proportions are fucked up, I know. Was fun though.
Finished another one last night.
I'd appreciate more critique.
Enjoy.

i'm a fan of drawings of bugs, i don't really do it myself, but bugs are just perfect for nice little ink drawings i think, which is what you've done, so i think you have a really good aesthetic going
there are some very nice lithographs of bugs around, more for science than for art i think, but i feel like they often portrayed them in a surprising sympathetic way, which you also manage to accomplish

Thanks man, appreciate the critique.
Gonna start working on some drawings with more bugs, great inspo, thanks!
I like ants. Eusocial insects are hard working.
Your bugs look too lumpy though. They look like giant sized versions of themselves.

Thanks for the critique. Any ideas for me to work on my drawings? Draw them with surroundings, maybe? You know, sticks or rocks or something. To give more of a feeling of tinyness?
the only thing i would suggest is to draw more than one bug in a scene.
like, make it something that would look nice on a shirt design, more composition is needed, other than that, the lines and anatomy look sound.

You have potential m8.
A lil' tip - a huge advantage of hatching is that it has direction, it has power. You can use that to effectively communicate volume, but only if you wrap it around the form.
>>3092918
Thanks, anon. Will follow your suggestion.
>>3092722
Thanks anon, working on a bigger composition. Will show tomorrow.
>>3092918
You dont need to follow the contour when you're hatching. Make sure you get the values correct.
More importantly you need to stop hooking your lines
Hello guys, back with another one.
The caterpillars themselves are a bit sloppy, I know.
>>3093780
What do you mean, hooking lines? You mean straighten them up and not swiveling around at the end of the line?
>>3090608
I think the eyes look a bit cartoony
>>3095865
Yeah it's hard to get it right. Often times there are some kind of "pupils" on bug's eyes, but it's difficult to do them without making them look dumb.
Anyway, thanks for the critique.

you could try hatching at not-90 degrees, it can look a bit more lively and natural, i don't think you need to do it or anything but you might enjoy giving it a go
>>3088310
really cool. saved them all.
>>3096315
Nightmarish. Really cool.
