How does chris chan still suck so much? Hes been drawing for hours every day for years now. He should be at least be somewhat decent, what the fuck is he doing
>>
>>3083913
shut up and draw faggot
>>
>>3083913
he's the bad kind of autistic.
>>
>>3083913
>targeting the lowest hanging fruit possible to feel good about yourself
>>
>>3083938
Im not targeting him. Hes been drawing for thousands of hours. Im curious why he hasnt imrpoved at all
>>
probably decided a long time ago his "style" is already perfect so he isn't even trying to improve

wouldn't be surprised if he actively looked at his 20 year old drawings for reference to make sure he manages to copy his own style down to the exact specs
>>
>>3083940
You keep telling yourself that. Whatever makes you feel less of a failure.
>>
>>3083944
what the fuck am i telling myself? he is constantly live streaming and uploading new art. why the fuck isnt he improving?

if you go to the gym everyday for a year then youre eventually going to get stronger. im sorry youre too stupid to understand that
>>
>>3083951
look dude, you're attacking some retard for no reason. it's hard for other anons not to think that you have some kind of mental issue.
>>
>>3083940
He doesn't; if you follow the history of him you would realize that he is a compulsive liar and claims to be drawing all day when the truth is he just plays video games all day.

If he way actually drawing all day like he claims he would be top tier. I honestly find it weird because autistic people tend to latch to a certain hobby and I would think he would be dedicated to drawing and improving but I guess he was introduced to video games first and got hooked to that instead.
>>
>>3083913
He's literally autistic.

What'd you expect?
>>
>>3083963
he wouldn't be top tier, what the fuck are you talking about

Just because someone draws all day for a few years doesn't mean they're going to be a master. I'm 100% sure chris chan only draws from imagination, no studies whatsoever. On top of that, he probably has some degree of impaired learning due to his autism, so there is no way he could be proficient at art, even if he draws 11 hours a day.
>>
>>3083989

how am I sticking up for chris chan, I literally said he would never become top tier. I merely gave a reason as to why.

Op of the post you replied to
I guess you missed the part where I said "autistic people tend to latch to a certain hobby and I would think he would be dedicated to drawing and improving"

Don't know how many autistic people you have been around, but my sister works with autistic people who have become better and better at hobbies because they become dedicated and are willing to learn this and that if it improves what they are interested in. Also Chris has a drivers license and can drive a car without any trouble on the road so I'm positive if he can do that he could have became top tier.

The real problem was the way his parents raised him, if it wasn't for them he could be top tier.
>>
>>3083913
Because just drawing alone isn't enough. If you don't study, and then work to apply what you've learned through study, you cannot improve.

Also as mentioned he's literally autistic.
>>
>Chris Chan has published more comic books than you ever will
It hurts
>>
>>3083913
>chris chan

>>
>>3084035
Yes he could improve if he was willing, but there are different types of autism (and different types of people). I feel like he's more of a kodyboy555, and he probably isn't hell bent on improving. He probably can't even see that his work sucks.
>>
The autistic mind is not really one for learning/improvement

Everything is perfectly at a balance.

It's really hard to explain. but as an autist I totally understand why someone would draw the same exact way like chris chan without a thought to improvement. They see things that arent there when they look at what theyve drawn, its like glorification, or maybe just being too deeply entrenched in the 'idea' realm of where the art piece came from... in any case, they surely do not see the same thing others are seeing.

Then again, maybe everyone else is too focused on improvement. Or they just want to understand the mind behind a huge failure like chris chan so they can reduce art into easy steps towards gains.
>>
God fucking thank you.

Nothing kills me than seeing people who draw (especially those man-children and MS Paint fetish artists on deviantArt) and never improve. Over the course of fucking. Years.

What's worst is how dedicated he is to his craft. Nigga will fight you if you say sonichu isn't original. He's drawn so much for so long, and it still looks like he uses his anus to draw.

Props to him for being so strong about not improving, though. I'd fucking kill myself because art is my 'OnLy TaLeNt'
>>
>>3084139
thinking about it further, he most likely developed Dunning–Kruger effect during childhood or his teens.

And he's damn right to pepper spray you! Sonichu is a national treasure.
>>
>>3084166

>>
I honsetly envy him that special freedom of the mind that comes with retardation... if only I could just sit down and draw all fucking day without worrying or considering this and that, I wouldn't improve as much but I'd be so much happier and productive...
>>
>>3083962
You have no argument at all.
>>
>>3084271
but how does one not look at the stuff being produced around them and not feel, even just a little bit envious? People have and still are creating immense beauty all around me in every area, and it kills me inside to know that I'm not holding even a fragment of this beauty in my own hands. There's always someone doing something better, cooler, fresher, more creatively, etc., etc. I feel so emotional just thinking about it. I don't understand how someone can be so blinded by complacency? where is his envy? his sleepless nights? His frustration? I understand ignorance is bliss, but come on, I find it really hard to be ignorant about this kind of stuff.

Some people are stupid, I couldn't draw for shit until I was 18 and I thought I was great my whole childhood. People praising your garbage doesn't help.

>>
>>3085037
I could excuse that, for up until you become 18. I drew pretty badly all my childhood, and while I knew I wasn't some Michelangelo, I thought my shit was decent for my age. it wasn't . there was always that hope that, if I kept drawing, I'll get better eventually (even though I had no idea what better meant or how it looked like). about 16/17 it dawned on me that the shit I draw is absolute trash and I'm hardly improving like I thought I would be. hell, my shit still sucks absolute wieners, but I'm painfully aware of it.
>>
>>3085041
How bad could you possibly be?
>>
>>3085046
maybe I'm overstating how bad I am, but I am bad nonetheless. My biggest problem is that I have a big, active, vivid imagination, but yet, I have immense trouble with expressing the things I see in my mind, however I see other people express similiar ideas on a regular basis, and they express it well. the part of mind to paper gets skewed and completely lacking of what I intended, which is the biggest frustration in my life. even if I could accurately express my mind's images, and have the entire world accept it with mediocrity, I would be content in knowing that I expressed it well. I would much rather have that than creating work's not expressing my mind's work that are met with praise and renown. re-reading this, it sounds very autistic and pretentious as fuck, but I don't mean for it to be that way, I want it to be fun, enjoyable, and natural. of course the best scenario is to create what's in my mind's eye, and have people praise it for being good.
>>
>>3085054
The thing is all that matters in the end is your own well being. In the grand scheme of things, nothing will leave a mark. There is no cosmic justice or hall of the holy at the end of the road.

As someone who also stresses WAY too much about this shit, I recognize that it's pretty much the worst way to go about it. Remember the adage that goes "make art for yourself?" that's really what it means. Yes, there is money somewhere in the equation but apart from that, it's entirely about being satisfied about yourself. Anything that stands between you and your satisfaction is poison, so maybe take a break from looking at other people's art. It might feel like you're throwing away your compass but it's not. That's why I said >>3084271 that I envy autistic dedication. These people are, on top of all, happy with what they're doing. No amount of achievements or praise can replace that.
>>
>>3084014
i'm sorry if that's actually better than you
>>
>>3083913
So uh as someone with similar autism to chris i'd like to put in my two cents here uhh like
(me and chris don't act alike because we've been socialized very differently. one of the big things about them autismics is you don't learn things intuitively, you learn them mechanically often having to have them explained to you. i was lucky to have a lot of explainers in my life and so i've ended up as a very different person from Chris. When i was younger i was very much like him in a lot of ways however. i'd like to just get that out of the way.)

Chris doesn't improve because of a couple of reasons. One of them is that he restricts what he draws to a couple of things and doesn't do a lot of variations on those things (IE sonic characters). Another reason is that he spends too much time drawing certain parts, doesn't really knock around with things like perspective and all that. He's very tedious with things like coloring and such and trying to get his line weight perfect. Uhh another reason is that he cares too much about the drawings he makes, he's not ready to fill every square inch with a bunch of sketches and so every time he approaches the paper he hypes himself up to make something great on his first try- a good way to fail. Another reason (common reason that everyone gets from time to time) is that he fails to visualize things properly. You can draw anything you can think of, the problem is thinking of it accurately and in 3D and not having your brain trick you by presenting you with a "concept" in your mind's eye.

so uh the only thing i really came to say i guess was that's a very, very curious picture you posted OP. Chris is notorious for symbol drawing- he is a victim to the concepts his brain presents him with. He will draw faces, eyes, etc always from the same catalog of angles he has in his brain (front view, profile view) and is incapable of turning them at different angles to get different perspectives.
But not with shoes?
>>
>>3085537
>>3083913
So like, when he makes a face or whatever the hell he really always makes it full frontal or profile. He does a couple of little tricks to hide this sometimes but really he sticks to this weird catalog of angles that he has. But not with shoes. For some reason he excels at imagining shoes in 3D. He frequently draws shoes from all sorts of angles. Why the fuck? What is this? What's happening here? Why can he do literally nothing except shoes? Why?
>>
>>3083913
>Hes been drawing for hours every day for years now
He's been wallowing in a roach infested shithole playing Nintendo with an infected gaping wound "vagina."
>>
>>3085542
>>3085537
>>3083913
Like, even when he really, really tries to imagine things in 3D he can only do some super basic stuff like adding and subtracting to each side of a face. He really really struggles with all 3D objects. But not shoes. For some reason he can make the shoes relatively fine. Look at this. Look at how much he struggles at turning anything that he's not got a catalog of symbols for. Except for fucking shoes. Its amazing.
>>
For some reason, chris will not symbol draw a shoe. Everything else becomes a strange, 2D concept to him. The stools. The table. The headphones. almost all parts are visible at all times. The left side of this character's headphones should not be visible but they are because he is so easily tricked by these symbols his brain presents him with.
But not. Fucking. Shoes.
>>
Does anyone else see this? he can't properly turn something in his brain like a face or a torso, he fails almost every time at creating a 3D model of something except for fucking SHOES. What is it about a shoe that he gets?
>>
>>3083951
Other anon thinks you're making fun of him and its also the tone in your question, iguess?I see it as a harsh question but nothing too bad just you asking an honest thought.
To answer it its simple, if you go to the gym and not do your basic training and reps then you'll stay the same. So in chris chan case he doesn't study his basic training and doesn't practice so he'll stay the same in time.He is still stuck in 2005(with his art).
>>
>>3083989
b-b-but /ic/ told me anyone could make it
>>
>>3085600
"making it" is a vague term. most people use it to mean to become very popular/rich so
Anyone can become good at art. Being good at art doesn't mean you'll make a lot of money, though. There's always the quick n cheep way, you can make a shitload of polished, rendered fanart porn and become very popular and even make some money off of it. But becoming famous or rich relies HEAVILY on connections, and on luck.
>>
>>3085600

I'm pretty sure that generally excludes people who are literally retarded.

You can be dumb and make it, though.
>>
>>3085600
Vast majority of people have the potential of making it. If you can't, the only reason would be if you were autistic in a way that prevents you from doing so. There are autistic people who are great at art, chris chan is not one of them.

Perhaps it's like eating. We do it practically three times a day for our entire lives yet many people still drop food or make a mess when they eat. Only when they're consciously trying to improve their table manners will they see any improvement beyond basic functional use.

Perhaps drawing is the same in Chris Chan's case. His drawings are functionally good enough to be recognizable and convey expressions, so he never bothers to improve his craft.
>>
Chris is an interesting fellow, dedicated to telling compelling story through a childish art style. A true savant.

I guess, since he's inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog comics. These characters have generally huge shoes, with simple, but 3D shapes, I suppose he has stared at these drawings so much he has actually absorbed something out of them.

>>
>>3083913
Chris hasn't improved, because he's a severe autist who is incapable of self-criticism, and sees no need to be better - in his twisted mind, his skills are the best in the world. And, any external criticism bounces off his bizarre world-view - you could try to talk "art" with Chris, but he wouldn't really understand what you're saying - and his understanding of issues and concepts sometimes is very selective.
To Chris, his "art" needs no improvement, it's perfect, because he made it. As long as it serves his needs (mostly expressing strange and twisted ideas about the world, creating a fictional reality where he lives out his control and tyrannical nature over people he hates, or wants sexually), this is what it is. Change? Why? People give him money, to spend on toys, and have pumped him up for years that what he's doing is perfect the way it is.
From a psychological point of view, his art is a peak at what's really going on in his little gerbil brain, and it ain't pretty - and that brain hasn't developed for decades, either.
>>
>>3083989
He has the mind of a child, his artwork is childish. Why is this so hard to understand? Oh, one of the "talent doesn't exist" blowhards is here.

Chris will never be a master level artist, he doesn't have the emotional maturity to go beyond what he's doing now.
>>
>>3085032
Chris doesn't have the ability to look beyond himself for things like that. You have to understand, he lives in a bubble where he is the most important thing on the planet, where he does nothing wrong. I've never heard him display any real empathy or remorse, or any emotions other than indulged greed, or anger.
You could take Chris to the Louvre, and he would literally take nothing away from it - he'd care more about the snack bar.
>>
>>3086335
I think it's more simplistic than that - I think learning to tie his shoes was a late development thing for him, and an early sense of (exaggerated) pride. He CARES deeply about shoes, because it's one of his life victories (knowing barb, she probably bribed him with toys to learn how, and showered him in attention and toys when he finally learned.)
Imagine toilet training him. Oy vey.
>>
late to this thread but it's not about the amount of practice, it's about effective practice. Quality > Quantity. It doesn't matter if you can draw Sonichu 10,000 times, if you're drawing the same thing over and over and not looking for ways to improve, you won't improve. Especially if you can't look at your own work with a critical eye, like Chris. Or if you scorn criticism, like Dobson. Chris has never left his comfort zone of drawing like he does, so of course he's never improved.
>>
>>3083913
He doesn't draw regularly, and has literally no knowledge of perspective, construction, anatomy or form.
>>
>>3089216
He also has no fucking clue on how to layout a comic. Its just a fucking mess with no flow and when its at its worse he just puts numbers on the page for panel order.
