I'd be more impressed if you could show that you are capable of drawing beautiful/cute things but simply choose not to. Drawing ugly things is a lot less challenging.
>>
>>3078753
Call me edgy but I don't find cute or nice things fun to draw.
I find ugly, gross and scary things way more fun to draw.
I think the only way to make something truly scary is to show off how ugly or inhuman it looks.
You can't really make something cute be scary.

yes, you can, actually being scary without using deformed faces, aliens, ghosts, high satured blood, retard open mouths from low budged horror movies. Your art is shit, dont think otherwise. For me your "scary" things are just fears of a premature kid. And you lack of skill, and no, there is no way any of ur art get feature in a band album cover, because THERE IS NO SKILL IN IT.. I see just brainless edgy high school shit. Dont get fool by the replys here, the positive ones are just ironics ones, people who are tired of people like you who make pathetic threads. you know, its not that your art isnt scary enought, its just really begginer. and you cant say that it is like so because its the style.

when I see your art I think of a kid trying to do scary stuff but fails miserably and says that it is ugly because thats the style. Do you want us to think like that of you? get better anon.

look at this girl, shes cute, still you can feel a much better sense of unsettling from her than your shitty teenager trying to do scary stuff but failing miserably kind of stuff
>>
>>3078612
its dogshit. learn to draw.
>betty edwards drawing on the right side of the brain
>>
>>3078758
I agree. Weird, inhuman things are a lot more fun to draw, but that's because you can mess up things like proportions and anatomy and still end up with a good drawing. It's fun because you don't have to try very hard, but that's also how you get trapped into only doing certain styles of artwork, which can get boring after a while.

I don't mean you should do outright cute drawings, but blending elements of cuteness and creepiness can help you branch out and try new things. That aesthetic is known as "kimokawaii" in Japan, "kimo" coming from "kimoi" (gross, disturbing) and "kawaii" (cute, lovely). Just Google that term for examples.

Also stuff like monster girls might qualify if they're particularly monstrous, I'll post an example after this.

I don't want to draw just inhuman monster stuff all the time.

I think the best piece of advice youll get from here is to get your drawings to look less flat, add more depth to them. It makes them look really amateur and like a failure if you dont.

practice values.
your art will still be mediocre tho.
If you really want to achieve that scary feeling quick.
Learn anatomy, learn the loomis.

>inb4 but i want to draw scary stuf!!1

if you learn to draw a proper face and learn its elements, you will be able to know how to displace a mouth without it looking retarded, or know how etes work at all (your eyes seem like something a 8 year old would do)

in the pic you can see someone that knows what they are doing

>my art suffered from being far too flat looking.
Yeah, that's because you haven't really studied how to draw/paint yet.

Your drawings are creepy but they do show a distinct lack of skill in execution. It is easy to distort or disfigure but not so easy to create with realism. That's what you seem to be lacking. Your pictures all are limited to the same close up cartoon face, lots of teeth, big eyes, and saturated colors.

Imagine what you could do with serious art study. Adding perspective, proper figure drawing, value, etc. Then you can make scenes like this pic and tell a story with more range and art appeal than just a close up cartoon face.
>>
>>3078873
I've been meaning to start using a tablet to help widen my skill range as I usually find my A3 books are only big enouth for a face torso.
I want to try out more dark and shading like in the picture you just posted as well as art that tells a story.
>>
>>3078878
okay do it, see you in a year.

>>3078869
I literally just searched "Horror drawings"
>>
You have to appreciate anyone who draws everyday like you clearly have been. Practice is always good. However the other anons are right mate, you've got to learn proper form and construction and you'll be able to create some real art pieces, that not only disturb the viewer, but are also very aesthetically well drawn.
>>
>>3078869
I just want to mention that this is a really cool drawing, probably my favorite of your stuff

I've only just finished University so I now have the time to put all my focus into my art.
I want to make new pieces almost every day and improve myself.

And of course anatomy, perspective and shading are what I want to improve on.

>>
It's unsettling, but personally I think it's too ordinary.
Crazy eyes, excessive blood, and a gaping mouth are all pretty standard. It'd be even more unsettling if it wasn't something you could reasonably expect to find on a creepypasta wikia site.
>>
>>3078622
>>3078652
These two are my favorite.
You have some cool ideas here and but make sure you're not staying complacent with that style.
Improving your art would make these a lot more effective.
Not saying do photorealism, but improve things like shading, proportions, composition.
>>
>>3078667
Unironically liked this one. I think showing blood and gore really makes your drawings less unsettling
>>
It's kinda sad to see this guy with a clear style and goal but no way to properly communicate because he lacks the skills. Learn your fundamentals OP, and study the shape of the skull so you can warp it into whatever shape you like.

I saw your deviantart a while back and had nightmares for weeks.
You can really convey a creepy feel in faces especially through eyes

this thread is the biggest self jerk i've seen in a long time.

Aren't some of these straight traced from panels of Junji Ito manga? I remember seeing a comparison image on some other boards

Only three are copies of Ito drawings turned into parodies of a kids show. Like the Steven drawing. I never claimed them as mine as I only made them for fun. Pretty much everything else is mine

I feel like you're trying to hide your inability to draw by drawing "spooky" and "weird" shits.

For starters, your stuff look flat as fuck. Look at >>3078612 for example. The colors are just not blending in with eachother. The black outlines not being affected by the colors aren't helping. The outlines are just too strong and aren't affected by the lighting or shading. Look at >>3078617 for example. The neck folds aren't looking three-dimensional at all. And look at >>3078622. No fabric ever folds like that. And take a look at >>3078621 and >>3078685 and shit. Your anatomy is real off.

What I would recommend is lay off the crayons for sometime and try sketching with a pencil and make sure to use erasers frequently. And not edgy stuffs like this. Just plain old bodies and fabrics. You need to give the gimmicky drawings a rest for awhile and study the fundamentals. Remember that Picasso mastered realism before he went on doing cubism stuff. Stylization needs to be an artistic choice, not an excuse for drawing bad.

I'm going to try and do more often for now on I'm thinking about joining the beginners threads and just drawing bodies hands faces and poises as well as perspective and shading. I want to improve on my work and make legit scary artwork
