Have any western artists become very successful financially, that don't do porn? Just wondering how much you can make if you are an exceptional artist outside of a special circumstance, like doing porn like Sakimichan, or owning a business like Feng.
Delete this thread if you're this stupid, you could google this easily.

thanks for the bump, hombre
have a good day
If you don't have an arts degree, don't do anime, or don't do comic art, you pretty much have to do porn
You're problem, OP, is that /ic/ has conditioned you to believe that the world of art revolves around fantasy/sci-fi/concept art and porn patreons. You have tunnel vision in regards to the world of art and the opportunities in the many, many creative fields. Your idea of what an "artist" is is so incredibly naive and presumptuous, not to mention immature.
This is honestly one of the dumbest, saddest questions I've ever seen here. You are too dumb to be on /ic/ if you think this board represents the world of art.

>call someone presumptuous
>entire post is nothing but presumptions
epic retardation and projection
>>3077881
its so obviously implied in OPs post and the fact that this is /ic/ which fyi stands for ILLUSTRATION CONCEPT ART.

Folks who draw porn are making more than folks with an art degree
>>3077802
You mean how many? What %? Even if you're the most pessimistic person on Earh you can't believe that only porn makes money, what the hell.
That said, to get anywhere, at least 3 of these conditions must happen
1) You're exceptionally good at what you do
2) You draw mostly fanart or girls
3) You are very good with selling, talking, social media and other things that require you to be a normal well adjusted normie
4) You live in California
5) You started your career 20 years ago

What is there besides concept art and patreon porn?
>>3078279
Honestly I'd call the concept art off the equation. The field's saturated to the extreme and in order to make it you have to be ridiculously good.
>>3077802
Yes, the first to come to mind for me is Jeremy Lipking.

It blows my mind how many people misinterpreted my original post. I never said doing only porn art makes money. I never implied the world of art revolves only around fantasy/sci-fi, it's merely my field of interest. That first retard is mentally ill. I cited a couple special examples in two people, have make a lot of people, and are outside the norm for an artist.
Then I asked the question of how much money some pure artists can be/are making who only do mainstream, socially acceptable art. People like Rapoza, Mullins, and Ruan Jia for instance. And no, you can't easily google this.
I wasn't expecting a real answer, mostly a shot in the dark, but I didn't expect the thread to become this dogshit.

I figured, but the way you posed the question sounded very much like it.
I think the people who make six figures like Rapoza or Mullins or other famous artists like that are in the range of the couple thousands, probably less. Unless you're phenomenal at art, good luck getting there.
And many of those still have side careers (through teaching or publishing)
