In reality, most people won't bother and Tumblr will just lose even more relevance.

Not sure why they didn't do it the same way DA, Artstation or even Blogspot do it where they just have the visitor confirm their age to procceed without having to log in. They definitely aren't legally obligated to force people to register to see NSFW content, so this really seems like a desperation move to temporarily raise new account registrations. If they are sinking this low, it's a bad sign for Tumblr as a whole.

This has actually always been the rules, the difference is before tumblr wouldn't let blogs marked 18+ to be indexed in searches making the possibility for exposure from tumblr alone pretty much null. Thus a lot of people made porn blogs on not adultmarked accounts so they could get seen.

All they did was do some damn moderation. Now if only they'd give a fuck about the people giving death threats to minors for drawing fanart 'wrong'

I have had at least 3-4 pics I've uploaded to my blog get that NSFW tag (pic related) and I had noticed what looks like a dip in notifications compared to other posts I did, which could just be those drawings not being as attention grabbing as the others I would assume, but I do think it has some form of effect compared to the rest of my art.

Which is another thing I wanna bring up, how is only one or two of my post getting "sensitive work" but my entire 99% of my nsfw blog isn't getting that forced tag? Is it an algorithm that just sucks or is it someone doing it manually? I don't get it.

Set aside all the /pol/shit memeing and stupid teenagers pretending to care about social issues for brownie points, and it's still a pretty terrible hosting platform for art.

The UI sucks, the search system is garbage, the archive page is a poor imitation of an actual gallery, there's no way to separate asks/text posts from images on your feed, and all the endless scrolling baby's first day of web design gives me a goddamned migraine (seriously fuck endless scrolling and the sentient ass cancer that invented it).

The only good thing about Tumblr is that it's a step up from posting on Instagram or Twitter.
