Anybody have tips on how to keep a steady hand while drawing? I've been doing nothing but chickenscratch because my drawings somehow look worse without it.

because you're looking for the best line within the lines right? so is the problem your hand or that you don't know exactly the line you want?

Draw from shoulder. Wrist shouldn't do much work. Proko has a video about it.

Drawing from the shoulder is one way to draw. It has it's time, and it's place, as do fingers, wrist, and elbow.
Drawing from the shoulder outside of large drawings on large paper is idiotic. You completely missed the point of what Proko was saying.

Keep practicing, and develop confidence in your drawing, and stability and accuracy. You're chicken scratching because you're not sure where the line should be, and that's either a lack of experience and confidence, or you're not thinking about what you're drawing.
Every time you place your pencil on the page, it should be meaningful. Chicken scratching is the opposite of that.
