Press F to pay respects

I'm going to miss its binary brush. Doodling in it was casual fun.
F
Now how am I going to paint digitally?
F
>>3071903
Didn't they just recently update Paint for Win10 with 3D modeling tools and shit? I have never actually looked at it on my laptop since the creators update.
F
>>3071903
Damn, this really sucks. Paint was a great platform for me when i was young just for the fact that it was a free introduction to digital art. Hopefully other generations can find alternatives.
F
>I won't be able to use "I made this in MS Paint in like two minutes" as an excuse for when something turns out shit anymore
F
>>3071932
There are already plenty of free (superior) alternatives
>>3071903
>mspaint.exe, has been marked as deprecated
>Deprecation states formally that the feature is no longer actively developed
>there are parts of the Win32 API that have been deprecated for 20 years but still haven't been removed
>>3071903
weird it doesn't even cost them anything, i know it's all the rage to remove features and options these days but paint?
i actually do a lot of stuff in paint, because i like the specific limits which give it it's own looks, but now that i think about it i'm never going to upgrade from windows 7
so more power to you i guess windows, fuck consumers as hard as you can as long as you can, of course computers should be a closed system like mobile phones, it's not the wild west
>>3072108
I hear they are going to soon stop supporting win 7. I'm afraid to upgrade to that annoying tablet interface and windows 10 scares me. Is this how it feels to be old?
>>3071903
Do you have an article on this?
They just updated paint with that horrible 3d mode. It's curious to see them recently update it with new features like that only to seemingly throw it away.
>>3072113
>I hear they are going to soon stop supporting win 7
Where did you hear that? The official end date of the extended support for win 7 is still January 2020. Nothing has changed there according to google.
I used paint just for screenshots o. But it doesn't seems necesary to remove it at all.
>>3072146
how do you screenshot so it puts it in a file instantly?
>>3072121
Pretty sure that's what he meant by that. 2 and a half years isn't exactly a long time after all.
>>3072167
win + printscreen on windows 8 and 10
control printscreen on windows 7
printscreen on fedora (the only one that makes sense)
>>3072168
true, I just thought he meant soon soon, like in the next couple of months which kind of startled me for a second.

Microsoft. MS Paint was my baby
It's going to be fine
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jul/25/microsoft-paint-saved-windows-store
>>3072113
like that matters
if XP had x64 support I would still be using it today
Xp was the first OS I started on and the single reason I switched was getting more than 4 gb of ram
I like my current windows 8.1 less than XP, but I am not going to bother trying out other OS since I work on my pc and I can't afford loosing days researching to reinstall all I need
maybe when I'll upgrade and get a second pc I'll experiment with other OS on the current one
never 4get my creative awakenning
>>3073174
Literally saved, wow
>>3071903
MSpaint was how I got into digital painting and other fun shit. I use to make my own magic cards and even made up my own TCG in it.
Huge bummmeerrrrr
>>3073188
xp has 64 support....
>allowing windows 10 to update at all except security patches
have fun with a bloated, slower computer without paint
>>3075514
The only monthly updates you get in win 10 ARE security updates. All the useless junk is pushed through the big annual anniversary updates. Which you'll have to install sooner or later because they stop releasing security patches for older versions.

But what is their reasoning?
Paint 3D is so cool.
I dont understand why people are crying.
>no more Windows Audio recorder
>no more Windows picture editor
>file extensions come hidden by default
>advanced settings (aka anything that is not changing your wallpaper) are hidden by the dault
>appstores 24/7 connected to the internet selling you shit you don't need
>searching on the Start Menu looks not only for local files, but Bing results
>browsers need addons to do basic shit like have keyboard shortcuts or open imagens on new tabs
>phoneniggers use apps to do basic shit like taking screenshots or using google
>some phoneniggers don't even understand what a folder or a collection of files mean
>hard drives stopped growing exponentially
>everything is stored in the cloud
>everything is stored via bookm-
>scratch that, timelines with infinite scroll guarantee you don't need to have bookmarks cause new content is always around the corner
>virtually no difference from having a picture stored on your personal folder, OneDrive or in your Facebook profile
>desktop computers will soon get back to being niche for turbo-nerds
>as niche as having a sewing machine, a centrifuge or a DJ table
>you need an ID to buy a cellphone
>you need a cellphone to create a computer e-mail (or inherit the address from a deceased relative)
>Unicode fonts are a thing of the past
>Unicode itself got blacked by emojis
L-look on the bright side, guys, at least nowadays we have Internet 24/7 so the non-copt-out weather gadget on our desktops can work at all times. And we still have Notepad!
Linux, see you in 2020!
>>3075571
why not use gnu/linux already? id rather use plan9 over windows
>>3075571
it's a sad state of affairs indeed, i don't know if they changed it but when i saw that you couldn't turn updates off permanently on windows 10, i was like 'nope, not for me'
i find it funny that the terminology changed the same time the software did. it used to be 'UI' interface, an active role, now it's 'UX' experience, a passive role, simply 'experiencing.'
anyway my main point was i own a sowing machine, a centrifuge and a DJ table
>>3075588
gui,
Microsoft had been trying for years to turn windows into a service os rather than a proper os
>>3075591
the gui is just a little part of the ui in general, which even includes the keyboard and mouse and everything else that interacting with the computer entails.
>>3075599
the gui includes the wm / de. to dismiss it is nonsensical. also ui obviously includes the input hardware, which hasnt shifted at all.
>>3075588
Why would you ever want to turn windows updates off permanently?
>>3075606
see upgrade to windows 10, a result of updates being on
>>3071903
Flash Player is also being deprecated. That's a much harder blow
>>3075610
it hasnt hade new features in ages and is completely obsolete at this point
>>3075618
But deprecation means browsers will end support in about 3 years. Anything made in Flash is no longer going to be viewable on standard browsers. All those porn games, anon
Looks like they're rescinding the execution order.
>>3075623
you can still. install the flash plug in though.
>>3075606
It automatically installs updates and restarts your PC, even when you disable those features. You have to disable the actual service in the services tab. It's fine on desktop computers, but it's really bad for laptops that use the hibernation function. I lost repeatedly lost work because it would restart overnight without warning me.
not my MS Paint
>>3075643
My coal boy.
>>3075643
I always thought this one was better, really hate the anti aliasing in the new one
>>3075735
99x this. good thing its easy to find the old version for download.
>>3075737
Exactly. I always use PaintXP, will only use Paint7 if I need something like More Ctrl+Zs (sketching) or a zoom out (Print/Cropping).
Y'all can get PaintXP here:

>>3075643
I remember when my mom has been taken me at her job, and let me use her PC. I've done so much funny shit with MSP.
>>3075926
meh, the older version was fine but it doesn't look any different than any other simple drawing program, so you might as well use an even more interesting one like dpaint. because the win7 one does all that crappy aliasing stuff it gives things made in it more of their own identity.
>>3076630
takes longer
>>3076431
"Other programs can do it".
No. Paint.NET has been shilled for a decade already with this same conversation, but any person who is not mentally handicapped and has actually used Paint feels how different they are. Paint is simple, just works (tm) and very precise, its limitations make it comfortable to use rather than opening up GIMP for every minimal edit you might want to add to a picture.
turns out it's taking a trip to the """app store""" and we'll have to download the thing again. dunno how apps in w10 works but knowing microsoft it'll probably be a lot more of a hassle to edit and crop screenshots fast now
