Thoughts on this painting I did?

Jesus Christ

I concur

Can you say stuff about your intentions for the painting? Kind of hard to critique if we don't know.
>>3068618
I don't think my intentions particularly matter.
I'm going to let the painting speak for itself.
I'd just like to hear people's reactions to it and what they think of it.
>>3068480
does El Greco inspire you? Because my immediate response was that your style has very close similarities with the former Spanish, Old Master artist.
>>3068858
Yea haha I used that pic as a reference
>>3068618
that's a retarded approach. there are hundreds of things one can comment on or produce their own meaning from before the creator gives their statement of purpose. art is about firsthand seeing and feeling, not about being told what to see or feel
I like it. I would maybe do a more elaborate background to bring the bold lines and earthy colors together.
>>3068915
exactly
>>3068480
Good, but you should use the background to contrast with the blacks and dark reds of his face

>I'm going to let the painting speak for itself.
In this case probably not a good idea.
looks badass. nice work.
>>3068888
well if u did u might go back to learn how to copy a subject.
It's good anon but this blacks (mostly on the beard) bothers me. Try to not use paint straight from the tube and break black colour with some red.
>>3074371
I know how to copy.
I did rather add my own distortions instead of copying exactly what I see.
>>3077603
prove it lol.
You're like a shitty Goya.
>>3077610
From a Sargent.
But FYI I shouldn't have to prove it
>>3077615
cute!
>>3068480
You've made him look like a gayer.
That's not a good thing.
