>don't draw for weeks at a time
>improve anyway
Why are you so lazy anon
>>3063805
I actually do improve when I take breaks. When I keep at something I get frustrated as fuck and quit for a few weeks.
I draw in my dreams.

>pick a pen when I was 10 and draw for the first time
>I draw a mindblowing (given the fact that I never drew anything prior to that day) landscape
>from then on I know hiw to draw landscape
>never practice again
>normies still get blown away by my (shitty, for professional standards) sketches
>tfw I've had sex twice onky due to my ability of drawing worthless landscapes out of nothing
I'm pretty sure that I could have become the next Raphael, had I put the hours into it.
Whatever, I guess I'll enjoy this life of mine as an accountant :)

>says this as he posts in /ic/
>>3063855
I read mostly threads about art, I usually skip everything that is related to the careeristic aspect of becoming a painter (things like beginner threads, or questions about craft and so on).
Blame the mods for never having split this board into /art/ and /craft/
>>3063805
Same.
>>3063805
Easy to improve when you start and do'nt know shit
>>3063853
post your work anon and get your fucking world destroyed.
>>3063805
>doesnt count discipline and consistency as a skill
>marks up other arbitrary shit as improvement
>all for the sake of clutching onto any sort of self-postivity due to fragile self esteem
im not being an asshole, i just see my old self in your post.
quite depressing.
>>3063805
it's a pretty common thing.

>dunning kruger at its finest.
>Draw for hours every single day.
>Always feel like shit about it, never really improve.
>Stop drawing for 9 months while I work a flat-out retail slave job.
>Dust off tablet to do a quick painting as a birthday gift.
>Suddenly my anatomy is fantastic.
Sometimes you've gotta lose your bad habits and spend time learning by observing, I guess? I honestly have no explanation. My skill has gone up by huge leaps for no reason.
>Don't draw for ages
>Standards are lower, eye for mistakes has become rusty
>WOAH DOOD I IMPROVED SO MUCH
True.
It's so weird....but it's okay (-:

this is the funniest thing I've ever read on /ic/

I'm on 2 month hiatus until I move into my new house next week. I had to pack everything up for showing the house and to move. I can't wait to get back to painting!!
>>3064487
except you never loose your eye for mistakes (at least I don't).
nice try grindboi.
>>3063853
PLEASE post a landscape so everyone can clown you.
I was drawing several hours a day for about two years and improving quick when I first started getting serious about it. I actually slowly started to draw less after I began art school. However, I am actually still improving for whatever reason even when I've been a lazy fuck for the past year or so. I guess there comes a point when the path consists of more than just mindless grinding. I also think that the slower rate of improvement as I got better really dulled down the excitement of practicing. I really should draw more though...
>>3065224
I think understanding theory and technique is just as important as grinding. Sometime you just need to go out in nature or a city and think about how you would render something and that can be ALMOST as good as practice. Obviously actually rendering something is always better
>>3063853
you need to post that work

I've sketched this now. Of course I regard as nothing more than a doodle, but I guess you can see how it can ''look'' good to someone who does not know how to draw.
>>3067079
>that tree
It's clearly not professional, but I honestly can't say it's bad. Work on your basics and you may have something going on, anon.
>>3067079
>draws some rocks
>dude landscape lmao
>>3067096
No need to be so dismissive, I haven't claimed any proficency, and I've posted these doodles only because you guys asked for them.
Regardless, there are many rocks because it is the same landscape seen from different (wrong) perspectives. If there's a rock-ish structure in one panel, it follows that it will be present in a way or another in most other panels.
>>3067124
it's basically beginner tier stuff. nothing as special as you claimed it to be.
>>3067187
>>normies still get blown away by my (shitty, for professional standards) sketches
>Of course I regard as nothing more than a doodle
>I haven't claimed any proficency
Nice reading comprehension.
>>3067254
Yeah but you keep qualifying it as "shitty by professional standards" and making the concession that "oh but it's just a doodle" when in reality it's shitty by any standards and your whole life is a doodle.
>>3067275
I guess it's about you, isn't it? Are you going through some tough times? Wanna talk about it? There's no need to project it on other anons, my friend.
>>3065845
You make a good point. When I'm out by myself and not busy, I'll often look at something like plants or mountains in the distance and think about how I would paint them. Lately, I've also been observing folds on people's clothes and analyzing their structure. Sometimes I'll not be lazy and sketch them. I guess even those little things help my work a bit.
>>3067278
We'll to be completely honest I'm not even the first guy you were responding to, and I didn't even look at the drawings you guys were talking about, I just like to Shitpost for funsies sometimes when I'm on break at work and saw a good opportunity. Also in my defense I chuckled like a retard at my own "your whole life is a doodle" insult for like 5 min straight so >>3067320 is more than likely 100% correct
>>3067079
The third panel is flawless, good job. Love the floor in the fourth panel.
>>3067445
Sorry, it was fourth and fifth.
>>3067275
>your whole life is a doodle
