Ok now that we have a bunch of examples of great artist lets talk about what makes them great. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of these artist fill in shapes very deliberate with different kinds of hatching. Another thing is that there is very little chicken scratching a lot of this is done with one contour line.
>>3050854
Note that the hatching tends to follow the contour of the object as well. It looks like simple, bold, and informative outlines are pretty common as well. Another thing is that the hatching sometimes matches the texture of what it's on, so the instead of drawing the texture then shading over it, they do both in one step
I like the simplicity of Ingres
Glen Keane
Jong Hwan
Daniol Chavez

Visual memory and spatial awareness. Every line he puts down is in relation to the last one. It's fairly easy on a smaller scale. You do one small part of the whole at the time, and all you need to know is how that small part looks.

Jazza is way better tho
>>3050594
Is there any place where you can actually see Wes's sketches? The handful I have seen are all shit quality and the pictures are taking at a weird angle like the one you posted. Really dig his work but it's hard to find.

Is there a way to get a definitive collection of artwork by western artists like Glen Keane? I wish there's a notable booru but for western artists
>>3051839
Could be. He also uses woodless graphite pencils often.

If they do say that, then they're probably completely ognorant of his work or just blind. Shit, murata is respected by the best american comic artists out there.
>>3050740
He's a freak, even among high-level professionals. Don't worry about it. Find your own methods.

This thread is full of really skilled people, but apart from these ones, I don't feel entertained.
Guess manga fried my brain, I really value readability and shapes over mood or texture.
Have one Asano Inio.
