I use Krita because of it's large set of tools and it's free.
>>
PS because of tools and I already knew it b4. Just don't feel like bothering with other programs
>>
>>3047635
Same op.
>>

Clip Studio Paint

Photoshop bugged out with my tablet, it was cheap, and it works great for drawing. Not that I have much experience with that many other software.
>>
Clip Studio Paint

I used Paint Tool SAI before but making your own brushes was a pain in the ass
>>
manga studio EX for 90% of it, photoshop for little bits of post processing.

I'd use photoshop more but it lags like shit and is generally really clunky. I don't really understand why people swear by it except "muh industry standard". I can just export as a .PSD if I need to.
>>
drawpile because it does what I need (very /beg/-tier), and then I'm more comfortable with the hotkeys when people want to group draw.

That being said, if anyone knows better software for linux, please let me know. I tried krita but the brushes lagged a lot, and I tried mypaint but I could hardly see the cursor.
>>
>>3047635
+1 to krita
>>
>>3047635
Clip Studio Paint

Has a fuckton of features.

I used to use Manga Studio but now it just broke so I guess I have to learn Photoshop.
>>
>>3047635
Photoshop Elements 15 and PaintToolSai

Sometimes I use both on one piece
>>
Clip Studio Paint
Cheap, easy, lots of features. I've been trying to use SAI and Photoshop in the past but CSP won me over
>>
>>3047946
>but now it just broke
elaborate
>>
CSP
It has everything I need, it's more comfortable for me than Photoshop and lags less, the brush system's customizability is great, and the lineart comes out a lot better than pretty much every other program I've tried.
>>
>>3047974

It starts with the workspace turned off and then when I try to switch brushes, try to lasso, or any particular keyboard shortcut, it just straight up crashes. Re-installs don't fix the problem.
>>
Photoshop

Tried CSP for the first time two days ago, decided that it was pointless if PS already does what I want.
>>
>>3047635
I use Photoshop, because I'm an adult who's job pays for my software.
>>
PS CS6
>>
SAI.
Started with Photoshop, drew a for few years with it then dropped. It handles like a brick.
Bought sai a year ago, using 2.0 beta right now. Godsent software.
>>
>>3047635
just started using krita, cause no way this tablet can handle PS
>>
>>3047762
Wow thanks anon
Will try it. It's good to explore other options.
>>
>>3047762
Can you just do this like any other crack?

It'd be nice to explore different software, ty anon
>>
>>3048099
Yeah, it's not like the keygen cracks(that shit is fucking annoying), this comes with a serial and overwrites the program to auto accept it(I think).

>Copy all the crack files into the main folder
>run the Crack >pic related
>enjoy
It should be easy.

>>
>>3047635
CLIP STUDIO PAINT

why?
cause it has the best lineart brushes engine, it's cheap and it's more stable and less resources consuming than photoshop (at least in my case).
>>
Started with Photoshop and then moved to Sketchbook, been getting into Krita lately, since Autodesk's subscriptions are just plain cancer.

And I must say its pretty good the only thing is I've been trying to create/find a decent brush for rendering but no luck so far.
>>
>>3048446
what brush do you use senpai?
>>
>>3048446
It would be perfect if it wasn't for that mediocre facial expression. Study the face, work on that exaggeration m8.
>>
>>3048468
customized standard brushes. you can find them here: http://bbc-chan.tumblr.com/brushes
I used sketching-inking for that pic.

ive always used sai its simple and runs nicely on my toaster
thought about making the jump to csp but i just cant be bothered

You CSP bros every tried Krita's line assistent? How does it compare to CSP's lines?

I've only been working with Krita and I think the stabilizer is pretty much on par with Lazy Nezumi, but CSP's lines are legendary.
>>
>>3048471
I don't see any problems with that expression, but thanks for the opinion.
>>
>>3048476
CSP lines are legendary because of the engine (velocity setting in primis), not because of the stabilizers.
>>
>>3048478
He probably means that there isn't enough expression.

The pic makes it seem like she needs a rage face, but your face is like a calm anger face.

Current face = before the fight when the enemies are locking eyes
Needed face = during the fight after the heavy blow that takes all her strength

It's really good, but I agree the face could be worked on a tad bit.
>>
>>3048205
croomie?
>>
>>3048482
It was a commission with some guidelines. I didn't want to make her look overexerting, because her sword supposedly cuts through enemies like they were butter. Plus I wanted to retain the likeness and appeal (pretty traits) of the character.
I get that I could have made her look more badass and filled with rage, but that wasn't my intention. I went for a middle ground on purpose.

CSP. Krita's fine and all but damn is it laggy (compared to csp) from my experience.
>>
Clip Studio Paint (sketch / paint) and Photoshop (effects / finish).
>>
CSP because it's what the cool kids use. I switch to it through Manga Studio after using Photoshop for a while and haven't really used anything else ever since. I'm keeping an eye on Krita, but it doesn't have as many of the same/similar features that I use a lot in CSP yet.
>>
SAI because it's what I've used for years and I don't feel like re-adjusting.
>>
Sai right now but I'm thinking of switching to Krita.

Only problem is recreating my brushes.
>>
>>3048476
I've used neither Krita nor CSP's stabilizer so I can't say. But I will say you shouldn't be leaning on those things unless you have an uncontrollable physically damaged shaky hand or your PC is so weak that it lags when drawing.
>>
Krita's what I use just because it's feature filled and free. It does everything I need it to more or less. I'm especially looking forward to the next version which is supposedly going to have Python scripting.

I don't think it's about the expression not being severe enough, my main issue with it is that the eyes are way too high up and almost as if you borrowed them from an extreme expression but kept the rest of the face pretty chill. The result looks plastic and not very believable.

My advice would be to study faces of people sneezing, getting punched or something where you can see all the muscles and bones and not just the individual features.

SAI

I want to use CSP, but the amount of features is so overwhelming.

This. I keep trying other software like Krita and CSP but can't get over the break in periods. So I do this dance where I try to draw with a different program every few months then go back to the usual after an hour.

Exception is I now use Procreate on my ipad more than SAI because it's one of the only options, and seems to be the best.

can you do edits like I can on Gimp on this website? pic related is 1 i made once.
>>

Can you get in trouble for this?
>>
I've used Sketchbook because I got it before the subscription was involved. Going to have to switch over to PS though for work. How likely am I to kill myself over the switch?
>>
>>3049840
>Can you get in trouble for this?
This isn't torrenting, so it's not something that an ISP looks out for. This is just a download link containing download files. ISP won't find out, and Celsys is a JPN corporation, they wouldn't try and sue you even if you told them. So you're fine.

>>3049834
>on this website
I assume you just made a spelling error. But yeah, you can make those kind of edits. It should actually be very easy. The selection tools vary from simple selection, wand selection, and the quick mask, which is great for something like this.

What's the Clip Studio equivalent to the Paths Tool in Gimp?

Also this takes a lot of memory ;_;

Ruler(U) > Curve Ruler > Cubic Bezier

I think it's like the path tool, but it's slightly different.
>>
>>3050117
To create guides you follow >>3050164
To create vector art in CSP what you do is create a new layer, right click and convert it to a vector layer, then draw on it and any lines you make get turned into paths automatically. Then you can manipulate the lines with the control point tool, you can control the guidelines similarly.
>>
>>3048476
I've used both. Your brush settings matter a lot more than anything else, and you can actually get some really good results in Krita if you spend some time experimenting with the brush engine. Also helps if you dial in your stabilizer settings, it's a little less "out of the box" than CSP, but it doesn't take too long to find some stabilizer settings that work well.
>>
There's no CYMK mode for Sai, right? I want to make some illustrations using Sai but they're going to be mass printed.
>>
Photoshop because I'm not gay.
>>
Mischief for sketching due to unlimited canvas. Autodesk for lines and painting. I just love that program.
>>
it seems i'm the only one, but i started with gimp and now im simply too used to it. i work much faster with it mainly because of that. i want to learn PS though
>>
>>3047643
When I downloaded my version of SAI from someone on dA, it had already come with custom brushes, so it was a head start. I use a lot of those custom brushes for my art.

CSP. It was 20-something bucks on sale and I like the tools it has. Was an avid SAI user before that.

>All these people saying Clip Studio
The only problem with Clip Studio is that sometimes when I'm using the pen tool, all of a sudden whenever I scroll over the canvas the pen will disappear. The other tools won't however.

It's really frustrating.
