I'm in the process of setting myself up for one right now, even if my art isn't good enough yet.

To become a manga artist though you first have to
1- Have the time and speed to complete such a project solo. And have the obsession over your work to keep going
2- Have above average drawing skills. You're going to be doing a lot of different poses and angles.
3- Actually be able to make comics

Start with a concept document (like what I'm doing rn) which has a lot of character art and settings in it along with the story you want, and go from there.
