You have preconceived notions of what certain body parts look like in your mind. Symbols if you will. The human mind is especially susceptible to this when it comes to facial features.

What that other anon is saying is that you need to draw the shapes as they actually are, not as your mind feels they should look like. A good way to practice this is to draw that same picture you just drew but upside down. Pay attention to the shapes and the relationships between positive and negative space. Do not worry about drawing a face.

You mean when people for example draw all the eyelashes straight up while some of them actually face down? I think that example is in the sticky. I don't have trouble drawing what I see instead of drawing automatically what I guess it would look like. So I'm assuming the upside down exercises aren't necessary for me right? Not exactly. You are missing the point. You shouldn't even be seeing eyelashes. You should see different shapes and different values and all the angles and space between. You should be thinking abstractly. This is what drawing upside down helps you do. It helps you disassociate from "seeing" anything except the actual shapes and values.

If this >>3066731 is your drawing, then very much so drawing upside down would help you. Your lines and proportions are entirely inaccurate. Drawing upside down is a good exercise for anyone of any skill level. Don't ever assume you are "above" an exercise.

Not bad! It could just be the angle the photo was taken at but check on your proportions around his left eye and nose. I also think your drawing style would benefit from the use of a traditional art pencil held flat instead of a mechanical pencil.

Would a lead holder (2mm) yield something similar? I've had the habit of sharpening pencils like crazy since my elementary school days hence why I switched to mechanical.

A lead holder could definitely work. The important thing is being able to use that broad edge to get softer and wider strokes. Areas like the shadow on his neck or the line defining his chin are going to feel a lot better and not look quite as harsh. You will also be able to get more dynamic range. Mechanical pencils are better suited for hatching but looking at your application it feels like you should be using something with more "feel" that will respond better and more intuitively to what you are trying to do.

Hips too flat (need to have mild anterior pelvic tilt and more forward depth, women actually have potbellies with their womanly hips) and wide, ass not round (yours is like two beanbags with legs and hips balanced on top)

Just use http://store.steampowered.com/app/262410/World_of_Guns_Gun_Disassembly/?l=english play with the camera, find your dreamed angle, press the key Print, then just make ctrl + V on your work: a nice reference.
