Good references in HD are fucking everywhere, if you put "artistic nude" into Google and search for graphics, you will see fuckton of it and usually in very high resolutions.

Also you can stumble on it totally randomly, see pic related that I randomly picked up from the /p/ thread.

For student work? It's literally not an issue. Selling art based on photography, that can be an issue, but if you're just doing it to learn, it's nothing to worry about.

If I'm going to sell it, I hire a model. I've hired models for several projects. I went through a model agency for most of them, one I put an ad up on Craigslist. I've also been approached by women, who love the idea of being captured in oil, while they're still young, so they can look at it when they're older.
The thing you'll be fighting, if you don't want to go through an agency, is the creep factor - creepy dudes have been using photography and art to try and get women alone and naked for decades, so be prepared for the women to be extremely paranoid, until you prove to them you're legit.
A great place to look for models in your area is a site like Model Mayhem, (http://www.modelmayhem.com/), I hired two girls off there. There's a lot of girls starting out there, who will work for free, for experience, or cheaper than a traditional artist's model guild. One of the girls I worked with said she would have posed in exchange for a painting - I've moved from that part of the country, or I'd have taken her up on it. (She was paid for the project, it was for an album cover, the band paid her fee)
