You can pick one - succeed as a freelance digital artist, or a digital artist working for a game/tv/movie studio, which would you pick, and why?
>>

can i pick the money from both and do neither?
>>
Freelancer, probably.
>>
>>3031466
I would like to start at a studio and then move to freelance, because I would imagine working in a studio would do wonders for optimizing workflow.

If that's not an option then straight freelance because setting my own hours would be nice.

Whichever pays more

Anyone who picks freelancing is wrong, for the simple reason that freelancers have to spend so much time LOOKING for work, while in-studio you spend all your time actually working. Unless you became an artist so you can spend lots of time networking and negotiating and hunting for work, you want to just have a steady studio job, trust me.

Freelancing sucks unless you're so top-tier that work finds you. Even still, in-studio is awesome just because you're working with other people and learning from and inspiring each other. Also benefits and just less stress in general. Keeping regular hours can suck sometimes, but in general in-studio is great.

Getting sweet sweet patreon bux from degenerates drawing porn.
That counts as freelance.
>>

Kill myself, those are terribly dulling goals.
>>
>>3031466
Freelance, doing your own thing, doing your name, your brand, and not becoming a slave to a company painting souless art. If you want to work like a slave, why the fuck didnt u have become a programmer, a enginner, a lawer, a ordinary business man, or stuff like that? Why are putting effort, so much effort, TO BECAME A BRAINDEAD SLAVE PAINTING SOLDIERS WITH BIG MUSCLES AND GIRLS WITH THE SAME FUCKING FACE DOING SOME STUPID POSE WITH GIANTS PUSSYS? YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO GIVE LIGHT, TO GIVE PURPOSE TO PEOPLE, TO GIVE SOME LIFE TO SOULESS PEOPLE, AND NOT BECOMING PART OF THEM! You were the choosen one.

Good luck in finding and landing a job that won't exhaust you from all the shit you have to make that seems boring for you.
>>
>>3031466
Studio, a stable job and all the benefits that come with it. Besides, I need human contact
>>
>>3031528
Pretty much, why would I study to produce trash in the end for shit money anyway?

Freelance digital, I want to be fine artist and doing illustration/graphic design/motion design and other stuff as a supplement because people would value me and know that I have awesome ideas and execution whatever I do would be a cream of a top.

Anyway, I am tradfag all along, so..yeah.
>>
>>3031492
Uh the question specifically stated you were succeeding as a freelancer?

Comprehension my friend

>>
>>3031761
Yeah one can read and the other one not.
>>
>>3031466
Having a stable job doing art is the dream, however tedious it might be most of the time. I care little about building a platform, a brand, finding work etc etc, I just want a stable income however little it may be
>>
turns out freelance is preeety good
>>
>>3031466
Kripp is a hottie desu. I want his vegan cummies.
>>
>>3031466
I would prefer to work for a studio, because as cool as it would be to be self-sufficient it gives you way more materials to work with if you want to try a bit more of an ambitious project.
>>
>>3031466
Neither, I want to make money with my own IP, books/products etc. Fuck having bosses.

Unless that counts as freelance idk
>>
>>3031466
Given that the entire downside of freelance is actually financially succeeding with it, and this scenario includes that, there's really only one answer.
With this scenario, you're getting enough work and your work ethic is good enough to comfortably support yourself. As your reputation grows, your prospects will only get better. A studio could always fail and leave you jobless down the line, and in the meantime you have to put up with any annoying quirks of your coworkers and superiors.
>there is an anon ITT who will try to tell me that making good dosh on your own time in the comfort of your own home is the inferior choice here
>>
I'm an emotional mess and require other people with similar mindsets and goals to motivate me, so studio all the way.

Also, studios seem like they offer more stability and benefits, as well as a place for creatives to aggregate ideas and bounce off of each other.

In the ideal situation, I work my way up through studio jobs and eventually git gud enough to start my own collaborations through skill and name recognition, then retire from studio work and freelance my way till I die mid-plein air.
