i think everyone can learn to take it. you just need to sort out the filth from the actual quality info. And you dont always get shit on, sometimes you come across people who only want to help. I think when you go to a website like Facebook, its too personal to get real honest critique. We NEED anonymous boards like 4chan to push people. but nobody ever comes here, i only knew about /ic/ from going to /b/. You dont often hear about /ic/ in other art groups on say, discord or facebook and that's probably part of the reason everyone can be such an ass, they're all from other parts of 4chan. Would advertising or spreading the word about this board somehow help with this? With the continued anonymity, i think the board could remain really honest and brutal but hopefully weed out some of the parts that ward people off.

IC is a valuable community for two reasons:
1. Anonymity allows you to be unafraid of giving your honest opinion, and honesty is absolutely priceless when it comes to art.
2.IC is rich with great resources. You cannot find a more helpful site to learn art because they simply do not allow shit tutorials, you get shot down if your tutorial is bad. IC doesn't need to move, it just needs a broader population. we have so many loli threads because its population stems from other parts of 4chan.

I had heard about 4chan for years and thought it was for child porn and hentai and shit like that. Then I heard Peter Mohrbacher reference /ic/ in his 1 Fantastic Week show I think. That means both gallery artist, freelance children book illustrator, in-house environment artist, educator in atelier and many more.

Good artists are popular or at least non-starving artists. If you can't sell your art, then you are 100% shit and/or still learning.

Want to be a professional artist and make art your living? Ask and be around professionals. I don't understand why this concept is so difficult for you.

Have you ever been to drawthreads? There are really only a handful of guys on /ic/ that earn money with their art. There's "Legend of Cryptids" guy, a pornfag making furry bara gay sex comissions, the environment concept artist that did the snake thing recently...and I guess that's nearly it. There was thread recently where people were asking about how much they earned with their art. Most people were in $50 range, and prices nearly stopped at $150. I think there was 1 or 2 raisins that earned $500 and $2000 one time.

That's actually wrong, being noticed by audience enough to get paid is a hard proof of technical ability. Face it, there was probably no artist that is known to this day that didn't do their art with material gain in the background starting with Leonardo comissioned for portraits and Michelangelo for the Sistine Chapel.

If you want to be hobbyist level it's all good - stay with other hobbyists and do the art for fun of doing it.
