A month ago I posted my ink cell drawings on /ic/ and got some helpful critique from it.
Meanwhile I started using watercolors and pens. What do you think, /ic/?

I don't feel particularly "good" artistically but I am getting better with handling my brushes and pens. I am also practicing figurative art in the form of sketches so I get some actual skills.

What am I looking at? I've never seen anything visually similar in my life.
>>
>>3019638
I will take that as a compliment.

I'm mostly inspired by organic structures, skin, diseased tissue and also a faint sense of genitals. I want to merge abstract beauty with a subtle recognition of something not being actually there.

Diseased tissue?

go to bed georgia o'keeffe, its late.
>>
>>3019662
I'm not Georgia O'Keefe. O'Keefe is obviously dead and there is no way I could even live that long.
>>
>>3019616
half of these are deformed vaginas and the other half are constructs so esoteric they arent worth analyzing.
>>
Sorry but these are very visually boring. You need to do some life drawing so your forms are more compelling.
>>
>>3019616
I like them. I think they are more like sketches or studies though and not fully complete. I can see reading some of these as objects, like flowers or organs , but also maybe as landscapes if you filled out the space a bit more. I like the ambiguity that is suggestive like a cross between Georgia O'Keefe and H.R Ginger. Keep going
>>
>>3019664
>what is a joke
>>
Looks like ants crawling on deformed lady bits.

No-one wants to see that. Or a sea of pink.
>>
>>3019639
>faint sense of genitals
>faint
Dude I caught vagina like right off the bat from all of these.

They're okay but aside from Georgia O'Keefe already having the name as vagina artist, vaginas are like literally the first thing any feminist artist draws to make any kind of statement (I know one who combined them and similarly shaped insects which was cool and a unique spin on it).

I've literally made drawings that look like these before even just doodling dicks and vag.

You have a nice touch with your lines and the color, but it's boring, predictable, and unoriginal. That's my opinion.

>>3019639
>I'm mostly inspired by organic structures, skin, diseased tissue and also a faint sense of genitals. I want to merge abstract beauty with a subtle recognition of something not being actually there.
This is very noticeable. Your art makes me uncomfortable as fuck because of that.

I like >>3019624 and >>3019626 because I can actually recognize something in them (a cross). The other pieces I find a bit boring, because of them not really hinting towards anything (like >>3019632, >>3019631, >>3019628, and >>3019636). They seem like images that belong in a biology book.

I do think your use of colours and lines/shapes/etc is very well done though.
>>
I could sense menstrating vagina the moment I looked at it. You have successfully managed to repulse me if that was your goal then good job? I can see a bunch of dykes standing around a painting that looks like yours and maybe they will even pay you dollars for the privilege to have it in their homes
>>
>>3019922
Read my answer again but this time more carefully. :^)

>>3019682
Giger and Beksinski are definitely on the list of my inspirations. I'm just starting out so it's still a long journey of experiments and actual practice ahead of me.

>>3019923
>>3020388
I do like reactions of repulsion. I want to balance ugliness with beauty but each viewer's mind works differently so some reactions will fall in certain areas like repulsion.

>>3020329
>>3019993
Thanks. The "faint" probably wasn't the right choice of words. With newer paintings I try to steer away from it more and seek new forms.

Thanks for the feedback, /ic/!

Thanks for your boring drawings and feedback!

I dig your stuff anon.
I smell Moebius on your stuff. Is he an influence?
>>
>>3020880
I definitely know what his work looks like but he's not a conscious influence.
>>
>>3019616
I find your work pretty original anon. equally beautiful, intimate and disgusting.
>>
>>3021531
Thanks! I try to be as original as possible with that limited amount of things I have in my repertoire at the moment.
I'm also always happy for more inspiration. Mentioning Georgia O'Keefe last month made me look her up and take in beautiful things that inspired me.
>>
These three paintings will be the last ones in this series.

You can tell I lost my patience here. I have new things I want to try.

Maybe I will come back to this series in the future. Right now I want to try something entirely new. It will dip into similar aesthetics but it will have a different vantage point.
>>
>>3019616
All of these are pretty fucking neato. You should expand on these and maybe make some designs based on this aesthetic. Looks fucking weird and should you make something less abstract out of it then we might have a next giger over here.

Why do some people want to go between all kinds of different mediums? Personally all I want to do is stick to my pen and paper.
>>
>you will never be as passionate about anything as OP is about vagoos

Mixed media is a lot of fun. Also pen + paper doesn't give you color options.

How do you do this... soft feeling?
>>
>>3024512
>Looks fucking weird and should you make something less abstract out of it then we might have a next giger over here.

Oh gosh, now you made me blush, anon.

I know I can not be the next Giger. I feel like I'm still stepping too much into his footsteps. I need to find my own aesthetics but that will take time.

>>3024636
Funnily enough, some of my leftist friends really loved these. But they were the ones who are into dark imagery as well, so yeah. In this postmodern time it is impossible to paint something that looks like a vagina and have it NOT be associated with feminism. So I chose to not make it about the a sense of pride presenting the female organ but about a sense of dread. Since I'm just beginning I'm still experimenting a lot and for some paintings it worked out and for others not so much.

>>3024641
>she

heh
>>
>>3024969
Different mediums make me do different things. Each medium I use teaches me various things and also have an influence on what I depict. Choosing the medium is also crucial when you want to do something specific.

>>3024974
They are just another flap of meat on the human body. My passion is what they mean to people.

>>3024999
I use water to evenly distribute the watercolors on the paper until I get the gradient I want. You can see on the earlier paintings that it took me few tries until I got it quite right. Especially >>3019626 was a huge failure for me which is why I then went back to more minimal and softer structures.
>>
>>3024999
Oh, and also, it helps to paint on REALLY smooth and level paper.
>>
>>3025091
>>3025094

Thanks anon.

Have you tried exhibiting your stuff at a gallery? Maybe you are not completely ready yet, but to be honest, some of the things you showed here are better then some pieces I've seen that were happily exhibited.
(just my lowly opinion though)

The stuff that is sometimes exhibited is atrocious in some cases, yeah.

I have not tried yet to reach out to galleries etc. but it is definitely I have in the back of my head all the time. I am working on gathering enough things for a portfolio. As I said, I started in March and everything before that is not close to what I want my name associated with. Depending on how my next projects will look like, I might considering contacting galleries or my university to ask for an exhibition.

Also, just for completion's sake: Here is what I made last month before painting with watercolors. /ic/ told me they were boring and I should mix it up and make it look more 3D - so I expanded my techniques and the results were better.

>>3025091
Personally I just want to get really good at drawing and get really good at drawing things. My cousin reckons if I do other mediums that might help me but I dunno if it will desu homie
>>
>>3025534
I do understand the will to just focus on one thing. I always admire people who do their thing and stick to it.
Personally, I simply can't. I have to jump from one idea to the next. I also write and make music, so I don't even have 100% of my time just for drawing and painting but there is no other way for me. It's what keep me going and inspired.

Wait , did you just graduate from high school?
