Define "practice"
I draw every day for an average of 3 hours. But most of it is just drawing for fun, unfinished crap. I know I need to do studies but I'm fucking lazy

I'll force myself to at least draw 2 hours a day no matter what. Sometimes I draw a bit more.
A lot of those days are just mindless imagination doodles. Sometimes I actually study things.
Sometimes I see rapid improvement over a few weeks. Sometimes I stagnate for months.

Setting a daily minimum like this has been good to at least get me to draw consistently. Would recommend to any one struggling with motivation to draw.

it hasnt been up until about a month ago i set myself a stricter schedule. i used to draw maybe 2-3 hours a day for maybe 2-3 days of the week. now i draw 4-5 hours everyday save one break day every week. most of it is studying different things, and i usually do 30 minutes of fun imagination cool down drawing at the end of sessions. i actually plan on bumping up the time to draw later during the evening/night as well

How do I do studies?

I would say 4-5 hours but realistically 3.5-4 hours of active practice on a daily basis.

Ive been doing 6-8 hours days for the past month and a half but I'm starting to seriously feel in my dominate hand (in enough pain to not draw today). Any advice?

Ummm...rest in between practices and exercise your hands before drawing?
I've been drawing 5-6 hours a day for 3 years now and never have injuries or hand paint.
The only thing i got is a shit ton of back pain.

if i was counting the amount of time i just goofed instead of really applying myself and the mountain of unfinished crap i never bothered with i would have spent enough time to get an art degree, fail, regret my life and commit suicide

i heard from a meme youtube artist that the first for hours of the day are hte most productive for your brain
so i gave it a try and really its way less taxing than doing it at any other point
then i proposed myself to do that from now on but then i inmediately quit the next day when i got the flu

try not to burn out, I recommend staying at your current level to get yourself used to it

if you hurry to raise it too fast you might burn out
