But is learning this kind of stuff a good way to draw people from imagination? Cause i have no of how to do that
>>3015238
Of course. Drawing purely from imagination requires knowledge of the subject. You need to know the regular proportions of the human body if you want to draw one without any sort of reference, otherwise your drawings will look wonky. This is important even if you want to stylize, you can only exaggerate proportions effectively if you know what the proportions of the regular human body are (as they say, you have to know the rules before breaking them).
Also I agree OP, WTF is that? Booty should be 3 heads wide at least, THIGG :DDDD
>>3015231
Needs more T H I C C, that ass is just sad. And shoulders wider than hips? Wtf is that some tranny?
>>3015394
it straight up does look like a tranny
ideal my ass loomis
>>3015238
You just divide the body into equal parts from head to toe.
-Head
-Chin (Bottom of mandible)
-Nipple (lower region of pectoralis major)
-Slgithly above belly button/umbilicis
-bottom of abs
-between rectus femoris/middle of femur/middle thigh
-bottom of femur/between kneecap/upper point of tibia
-bottom of gastrocnemius/between ulna or radius
-toe
You can break those rules, but it's really helpful to know those guidelines if you're drawing them in perspective

She'll look normal if you put clothes on her. Anime looks the same way.
>>3015231
This is a simplified drawing to remind us of idealistic proportions for Americans of his generation. O tempora! o mores! Boobs have gotten bigger, God bless the hormones in our food.
He could have drawn it better and then all the beginners would have covered their eyes in fear and put ashes in their hair and cried to G.d for mercy. It does its job because beginners can draw it in their sketchbook.
> I'm just wondering how the Ideal Male Height of Loomis' era became the Bare Mininum Height to be Human of /r9k/.
>>3015615
I like you.
Post more.
>>3015615
but her boobs are exactly the same size as the drawing, non?
i think women are pretty much the same shape as they've always been, just different ideals
anyway i think you pretty fuck blew up the op there, so end of thread, everyone out
>>3016695
wrote fuck instead of much, freudian slip
>>3015615
post her without the loomis shit pls
>>3015231
Why would a chart of figure proportions be wearing a pair of heels.... D: D:
>>3016663
not him but this is fun. i did it on some thicc russian porn slut.
really shows how "loomis" loomis is lmao.
>>3015231
It was a different time. Sportsman's shoulders, flat asses and "slim hips" were in.
Still worth copying for the construction, you can just alter the proportions to your own tastes.
>>3017656
but altering loomis is heresy.
BURN THIS HERETIC
>>3017648
>all women have the exact same proportions
>>3015615
>>3017674
Not him but I feel like Loomis is too idealistic with his drawings, which is not a bad thing considering he's an illustrator but holy moly anon most of us want to draw what we see or anime girls, not perfect looking white people from the 60s
>>3017767
Yeah, but his plane accentuation makes him perfect for an absolute beginner.
I mean Loomis isn't the be-all end-all, just another teacher that's worth taking notes from.
>>3015238
>learning this kind of stuff
You mean proportions? Yeah, you need to know that for figure drawing.
>>3017767
But I like the 60's
Fuck you
>>3015231
>that pathetic booty
Jesus christ

Chimes have tanged, lads. Nowadays you'll find bois, guys, and any other odd way of saying it, with better asses than women.
O tempora! O mores!
>>3015238
Yes it's very good. It's one of those "from one thing know ten thousand things" kind of deals.
So lets say you're just intuitively sketching something without much thinking or planning, say you draw a character from head down to the chest (ribs) and after that you run out of creative juices or "vision" to continue the drawing as intuitively as you have.
From there you can then rely on your knowledge of proportions and anatomy to finish the whole pose. You know that the chest/nipples are a generic vertical halfway point when measured from top of the head to the bottom of the torso, so with that information you can mentally measure/visualize the placement of the waist and hips.
And you know that legs are generically half of the whole length of the body, so with that you can place legs down while keeping in mind balance and weight distribution.
It's that kind of thing.
>>3020932
This is a man?
>>3015231
>>3015231
The shoulders were too wide. They should be no wider than hips usually. The legs were too short and the torso too long. Asian women tend to be built like that though with a longer torso with short legs. Loomis drew this chick with man hips.
>>3021106
>didnt fix thick neck
>didnt fix sekeletel feet
>no idea how asses curve
>didnt fix the side view of chest being perpendicular to ground
>didnt fix neck perpendicular to ground
>didnt fix the fix of the fix in fixing.
>>3021053
Oh, it's a man baby.
>>3015394
>more T H I C C
>>3017767
It is, but you would have to be mentally retarded to not notice that, and then study other "ideals" that fit better with your modern tastes and modify Loomis methods acordingly.
Sometimes I feel begginers are unable to think for themselves and want a perfect 100% always right teacher that does exactly what they have in their head so they can follow him blindly.
>>3021511
...hnnnnnnnnnnngh?...

No, homo. Enjoy the reference material.

Sheldon's a pretty good teacher. Very active. You end up waiting for him to get to the point, so you're always paying attention.
