Gesture is generally considered the cure to stiff poses. Think of it like construction for your construction, "How's this gonna flow, details aside?". Why you're supposed to do them fast, you want the big picture and by putting a time limit on studies you can't get bogged down in the details.

I have a tablet but I'm never satisfied with the line work I do on it. Drawing is so much slower on a tablet, too. At this moment I either pencil and ink on paper and color that digitally, or I do everything the old fashioned way and just scan it. There's a certainly degree of "lumpiness" that comes from my brush work, and that's just from an unsteady hand. However, it always looks worse when I try to ink digitally, and it takes twice as long. I like this. There's just a couple of small things that I'd change. I think the angle of left girl's shoulder and hips suggests there should be some squeezing on her right side, and I'd add a little bit more to the forms of her stomach as it looks a bit flat right now. Also the sheets around her legs don't read very well so I'd put some more detail to make it clear what's going on.

The line indicating the right girl's spine feels like it should be a little bit more parallel with the line next to it, and her butt seemed a just a tad too round.

btw I think you might've originally drawn the shoe on the left (her right leg), but I think that because of the direction her body is rotated (feet towards the bottom left), it may look better to keep the shoe on her left leg and redraw her right leg so that you can see at least a bit of the inner calf. But hey what do i know. Thats just what seems intuitive to me.

How am I doing? I'm not sure what would be the best way to fill up blank space when digitally coloring, since I scan my penciled and inked pages before I start to color them. Makes working with layers kinda funny.

It's a matter of practice. Based on both examples if those artists keep at it consistently they will improve over time just fine.

I find drawing things I like or drawing comics about a certain subject is a fast way to learn how to draw that subject. Since you end up doing it over and over from different angles.
