best books to learn anatomy?
The Bible, of course.
Get copy of (pic) and look up ecorche on google to learn muscle placement
Watch a lots and lots of exercise, sports, and porn videos to see how muscles move under different motions
Books: Anatomy for Sculptors By Uldis Zarins, Figure Drawing: Design and Invention By Michael Hampton, Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators By Mike Mattesi
Video Courses: Scott Eaton's Anatomy for Artists, Anatomy Workshop Series With Charles Hu (Gnomon Workshop), Villpu Drawing Manual
None of these are in an order that you should do them in but if you do them all you will have a very good understanding of anatomy. I added the videos section because they helped me out the most, specifically Scott Eaton's course.

Realized I forgot to mention a couple other things, Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing From Life. I hesitated to add it onto the list because it requires a very good understanding of anatomy to begin with but if you finish those and you want more it is a great book to read. Something else you may want to consider is learning 3D programs so that you can gain a good foundation for the forms of the body.

>Head anatomy
I strongly recommend The Complete Artist’s Guide to Drawing the Head by William Maughan

indeed, it's good even if you don't care that much about drawing heads as it has solid information about drawing in general, better than a lot of general drawing books for some reason

Actually is one of the shittiest anatomy medical books. I concede that it is beautifully rendered though

The books I was assigned in college were "Constructive Anatomy" by Bridgeman, and "Grey's Anatomy", for a class called "Anatomy for Artists", it was half science and half art.
