Do you listen to music while you draw/paint/shit on canvases?

Do you believe that listening to certain music makes you draw a certain way?

Personally "Demon days" by Gorillaz makes me draw more haggard and demented figures while "Time" by ELO helps me with more upbeat and fanatical things

I loved film scores on vinyl, especially from the silent era with the old pit piano music. Maurice Jarre, Bernard Herrmann... Herrmann will always put me in a Hitchcock mood. David Bowie's LOW is probably closest to being my artistic mood ring.

drawing to music always gets me a bit too pumped. in the end I look at the finished piece and it promptly becomes the next kindling for my oven

Mad beats, son.

Actually a technique I use while designing characters is imagining what music they'd listen to or represent
I feel like it helps nail the personality down and I've even built entire characters off of songs or albums

I do, but I'm very selective about it. No metal, no aggressive music, like what I'd listen to driving or lifting or playing a video game.

I have a lot of classical music, a lot of soft stuff, like Elton John, Bowie, Floyd, Genesis, Yes - stuff that I can let go of the analytic side and let the creative side of my brain go, without getting pumped up. Motorhead is one of my favorite bands, but I don't listen while I'm working. I have a wide range of music, always have, because I'm not a pinhead who thinks anything not metal is "gay".

Some of the better stuff for painting for me is Mannheim Steamroller, Dixie Dregs, Allman Brothers, Floyd's Animals, anything long and atmospheric and doesn't interrupt with vocals. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven are good. Some of the newer Pucifer stuff I've found is really good.

I've found I need music CAN fit the mood - if I'm doing something dark and spooky, then yes, I'll put darker stuff on, but for the most part, I want relaxing, non-competing for attention from what I'm doing, and no singing. And not depressing and sad.

I listen to anything, I have a fairly varied music taste. I like to listen to things that I feel fit the mood of the drawing.

Nick Drake is my favourite of all time, and I listen to his work a lot.

I usually only find time to draw at 12--3am because I spend most of the daytime doing studies so listening to music really helps me stay awake
>>
Sometimes I draw with music, sometimes without it, it depends simply on my mood. The music I listen to always has to suit my mood, time of the day and the weather outside. When I draw I listen mostly to
Jazz or hip-hop, something really chilled out, or instrumental hip hop, or some folk stuff like Nick Drake, Jackson C. Frank or Elliott Smith.

I listen to all kinds of stuff when drawing, from epic power metal to video game soundtracks (like Chrono Cross, that game had amazing music). I don't listen to random songs shuffled, but rather entire albums, so that there's a single theme for the drawing session. Sometimes when I have something difficult to draw, I start without music so that I can fully focus.
>>
The new Iglooghost mix and Forest Swords album have been p good for getting me in a drawing mood.

Different times.

This is a biased opinion, he just got triggered and got PTSD because his mentor whipped him for asking a simple, light hearted question.

Fuck that guy.

I think it still applies, animation is pretty intense and requires a lot of focus and thought.

I have a feeling someone disciplines themselves to create this sort of thread every time the last one dies, essentially making it its own general even though it isn't listed as one.

Later in this thread: will there be a man saying that "music is a distraction while drawing" again?

Anyway: some music is going to get shared on this Art-related image board now

Depends on my mood.

If I'm lethargic or whatever, I'll throw on some death metal or eurobeat to try and get pumped up. If I'm frustrated and twitchy, I'll throw on some ambience or slow electronic to try and calm down.

If I'm just in an absolutely shitty mood or trying to draw while completely distracted, it'll be straight up vaporwave or just rainymood.

All about playing to your mood. And nah, I've never found the music to influence my work.
>>
>>3003881
Death metal or dungeon synth.
>>
I try to keep to low tempo stuff while drawing or I get too into it and can't concentrate on what I'm doing.
