Don't know anon, if you think you are good and don't mind sucking some dicks to get connections in the industry, I think you could make It. Personally I think it's risky so I prefer to draw just as a hobby. But if I get a call to make something like for example that Tumblr girl who was called to work for Cartoon Network then I would more than gladly accept.

All I want to be able to do is make porn adequate enough for other people to fap to.

One opportunity and project that interests me at a time. If something professional unfolds, yeah. If not, no tears shed.

Just a hobby, but I wouldn't rule out working as an artist or even just doing commisions if I ever got good enough.
I want to become good enough to work as a professional, but not necessarily work as a professional.
I think I just want work and art to be separate, not having art be my job.
It's not something I worry about though, because I'm not gonna make it.

Im 30 and never completed college. Working deadend

I loved drawing as a kid but stopped after the age of 14 and its just now i decided i wanna pick it up again. I'm 30. Its just a hobby now but i do hope that one day ill get good enough to make it my job.

I wanna be good enough to be able to support myself and live alone. It could be through simply taking mads ammount of commissions or an actual job in the industry. Dont really care just wanna get good and live on my own.

I used to want to do art for a living but then I changed my mind and figured it would be better to get a dayjob and do art as a hobby but now I want to do art as a job again because my dayjob sucks

How do I get myself out of this situation? I have barely any free time and energy to draw

ps before some cheeky cunt tells me I could be spending right now drawing, I just got home from work, I don't have the energy to try to study and understand the intricate nature of the world

I'd love to work in the concept art industry someday, but that'll take fucking ages.
Hopefully, I can wrangle enough skill to work as an illustrator or designer.

Honestly? Just a hobby. Industry art sounds like a horrible business, both to be in and to get in.

Endgoal would just be doing my own thing, putting out paintings, comics, and games that people enjoy. I want to be really good at it, incredibly good, so good I leave one hell of a legacy, but any money earned is incidental.

it makes it more enjoyable to draw, even just to grind fundies, because I can just take my time since I'm only really just drawing for myself

I'm not really into the perfection of the human figure meme, I'm more interested in creating a self-evident story and appealing design, as long as my figure drawing is serviceable then I'm totally okay with that.

I never said to forego the fundamentals, just learning them with paper/pencil or in Photoshop is a waste of time if you want to be a concept artist. You can learn all those fundamentals in 3D and the applications to make 3D models are become faster and faster and more efficient than the need for a sketch or even a 2d turnaround.

If you want to draw in 2d become an illustrator. If you want to draw and do concept art get a job for Disney or the like. But if you want to be the next giger or Syd mead or frazetta, I'm sorry but there's no place in the industry for that kind of work.

I just...I want to be able to draw what I want and look at it and feel proud that I drew that.

It's one of the reasons I still write music and play piano. I find it fun when I work on it, but I also find it awesome that I can do something competently


I'm worried I started too late on art though. I just started and I turn 23 tomorrow. At my rate I'll be in my mid thirties at least before I even begin to like my own work:

I want to put out weird things on paper because I enjoy it. I also want to do that instead of having to work in an office where I don't enjoy myself.
So I'm working on creating things good enough so that people will buy them so I can continue drawing and painting. Also, no, I don't draw things to cater to specific tastes. But I want to be on a high enough technical level so I can easily put down what my mind comes up with.

Gonna treat it as a hobby. If I can get money from it, good.

But I'm not gonna go wasting all my drawing energy on doing stupid bullcrap for other people, sucking the joy out of the only thing I enjoy in life.
