I don't know how else I can word this
But why are they present?
In photo 1 and 3 they are water ripples caused by wind.
In photo 2 it looks like the black lines are narrow dikes running through shallow water. You can the wind is being blocked, because the water is still/smooth close to the dikes, while further away the wind is rippling the water.
>>2988293
It's caused by a increased concentration of dihydrogen monoxide

So this "cut" is a result of the compressed water ripples we see based on our location?
- because we're so far away, they appear to be smushed together, only showing the sky?
And if that's true, and its treated like a perspective plane, wouldnt the cut be more gradual like a gradient instead of a harsh cut?
>>2988322
I've no idea what you're trying to say here.
As I said, gusts of wind blow on the water creating ripples.
The difference of reflection on the water, the 'gradient', is called Fresnel, or Fresnel effect. The narrower the angle at which you see certain surfaces like the water surface, the stronger the reflection becomes. The wind changes the surface of the water. ripples go in different direction, so the reflection changes too. The sharp border is caused by the wind, nothing else.
can someone explain how light hits and goes through water?
how the fuck do you do that from imagination?
I am convinced the OP in this thread is mentally retard.
>>2988322
>So this "cut" is a result of the compressed water ripples we see based on our location?
I think it's an area with more water ripples, the more mirror-reflective areas closer to you is more still (being taken from shore)
go out near water sometime, don't just learn shit from 700x250 pixel photographs you've found online
those are called "waves," son.
>>2988322
note that the windy area of the water does not only reflect the sky, because of the higher frequency of the waves the effect of it will be that of a rougher material
>>2988293
What the fuck is going on here? Does OP seriously not understand how waves and reflection work?
Please tell me I'm misinterpreting something.
>>2988480
By studying it in nature, and remembering what it looks like.
Does this really need to be explained?
>>2988322
Not a trick of perspective, it is wind. I sail and those lines tell you where the wind is.
>>2988747
>"Haha, guys? Guys? Can I get some validation here? I'm so smart! How stupid someone must be to ask questions while learning about a subject that I already know of, amirite?!"
Not OP, but you are the fucking cancer of this board.
>>2989393
>projecting
OP literally doesn't understand that the waves cast a shadow, how else am I supposed to react.
>>2988480
not me
>>2988326
Thanks, I get it now. I basically asked the same question over without trying to understand what you wrote.
>>2988503
yes anon, asking a question does make me a retard.
>>2988699
>>2989210
Thanks for explaining what's going on
>>2989853
I understand that waves can cast a shadow, I get that.
I initially wanted to know why the reflection of the trees stop at this line. >>2988322
but I've gotten my answer
Ripples are really fun to observe when you swim in a lake. You also notice the different patterns depending on the wind. Hypnotic.
For retards like myself, this might help.
>>2989853
this effect has nothing to do with shadows
>>2988293
I think what he's trying to ask is why the mirror image on the surface of the water doesn't start right at the base of the trees being reflected but there's a clear space in the middle.
>>2990113
this explains..something?
>>2991383
It's something to do with your eye level/ horizon line.
>>2991387
everything.
>>2993801
Nothing.
>>2995234
Ignorant.
>>2988322
There's so many ripples in the water that you can't see the trees in the reflection. That's why the image "breaks"
>>2996135
It's an interesting visual effect.
>>2988503
You can't even type properly though.
>>2998343
Yeh you're right, OP is an intellectual genius and I have acute dysgraphia.
