If muscles are being pushed out by the ball joint of the femur, her leg is dislocated and out of the socket. The area indicated by the green arrows are where the layers of muscle and tendon flow over the greater trochanter, and attach to the pelvic bone.

The ball is in the hip socket, it doesn't influence the shape of the hip at all. Do you even know what part of the femur is the ball? And where it sits in the pelvis? It doesn't float free, it's in a socket surrounded by bone and tendons. It;s the foundation of the hip structure, it's not shaping the hips - the pelvis, the outer curve of the femur (the outer trochanter), and the muscles do that. That diagram doesn't show the muscles OVER the iliacus and psoas. The hip is a complex system, so complex they have to break it down to show the sub systems. We spent more time on it than any other part of the body in the anatomy for artist's class we took.

The ball of the femur does not influence the shape of the hips. It just doesn't. Learn what it is, where it is, and how it works.

The point is to be able to find the structure under the flesh, it helps finding mistakes, specially if you skip the drawing the skeleton part

Something the only good drawing teacher I ever had told me: conceptualize the pelvis as more of a square. It's easy to make it too complicated which just muddies the hips up.

Yeah, I think drawing it as a box helps in perspective too. I've tried Proko's bucket method but drawing ellipses in perspective feels less precise and straight lines allows you to map out the landmarks of the hips aswell

Gave it a try.
I recommend drawing from observation first, then tracing and then comparing the two, ideally giving it another try from observation to fix the mistakes.

I, for example, wouldn't have found out how much I tend to butcher the gesture had I traced straight away.

The greater trochanter can be described as a spherical form, i.e. a ball.
It's better to focus on getting your idea across to your fellow artists than to nitpick anatomical terms.

I've thought about it I've just never worked it into the process the shit I write is kind of obscure and cartoon anyway but It seems like even the mostsimply designed characters originated from one of these

Maybe pick a better ref to look for landmarks, first. Fat is easy to add later.

We don't "draw with a skeleton", we learn the skeleton and use that knowledge to speed up our process.
I often draw nothing but landmarks connected with gestural lines for my sketch. Boney landmarks are easy to spot proportional mistakes on early in the process, which saves a ton of time. You have to know what to look for, though.

That being said, your figures are decent and if you don't want to specialize in figure drawing and instead do concepts, cartoons, vehicles, environments etc., it's not a necessity.

your linework is super gorgeous, and for stylized and heavily foreshortened poses like this, you don't necessarily need FULL reference. i think you would have benefited from finding a reference for that leg, though. it looks a little silly. if we can see the shoe's platform at that angle, her foot shouldn't look so tiny/distant because it's technically on the same plane as her thigh. plus being hiked up over that branch adds another slew of questions... is her leg actually meant to be coming forward toward the viewer, like a rockette kick? are those ostrich eggs on a trunk-thick branch? does her other leg have a third joint in the shin? lots of questions over something that wasn't even meant to be focal but is because of the lines in her face leading the eye right to it.
