I am working on my patreon but I've been stalling over what to say and how to set it up nicely. What would be good rewards relative to the pledge amount.

What are some good examples of Patreon done right? Feel free to post your own patreons.
>>
>>2974436
Well the most important information is what are you doing art wise? Because the patreon of say a webcomic artist would be handled very differently than the patreon of a porn artist or fanartist.
>>
>>2974439
I focus on webcomics but I also do porn and fanart, but that's not my focus.
>>
im another anon from op i would like to know specifically for porn as well if possible.
>>
>>2974448
If you have a decent amount of readers / followers, you shouldn't have much of a problem then. As illustrator / fanartist etc it's always a bit weird and awkward to explain to your fanbase why you need a patreon and why they should give you money, but as webcomic artist, you can just say the patreon helps you to deliver more / higher quality content to your readers.

Just be sure that you actually do have a fanbase large enough that is willing to support you. Announce that shit a week or so in advance with a daily countdown or something leading up to your patreon launch. Ask some friends to pledge just to break the ice. The initial start is crucial because no one wants to be the first to pledge on an empty patreon.
>>
i pledge to doxy and cyancapsule

- $3.50 a week for like 15 high rez jpegs a week from doxy
doxy also has rewards for videos and PSDs for $5-8 a week.

- $3.00 a week for like 20-40 high rez jpegs that have sketches and finished shit and 1 PSD file every week from cyancapsule.

I think it's good value. They don't charge for weeks that they don't deliver.
>>
>>2974487
What's a decent amount of followers? I can also get my wealthy friends to contribute to break the ice.
>>
>>2974494
Would you prefer weekly as opposed to biweekly, monthly, bimonthly, or even per update?
>>
>>2974494
how the fuck do they even draw that much in a week
>>
>>2974691
It's their full time job.
>>
I only consider a good Patreon if I'm personally getting something out of it, like a sketch or drawing a month.
If not, I won't bother pledging, no matter how much I like their art.
>>
>>2975016
well you're a bitch
>>
>>2975016
nobody wants to draw your yiffsona
>>
>>2975016
>this

Why bother patroning if I get nothing. I can already do that by viewing their gallery.

Commission Priority or discounts, access to secret streams, sai or pdf files, something
>>
>>2974690
per update
that way no one gets upset that you miss a month
>>
>>2975377
>>2974436

access to livestream downloads works for Lmsketch
>>
I want to get to $1000 a month on patreon. How do I get there?
>>
>>2975450
One patron at a time.
>>
>tfw want to start a patreon for my graphic novel
>have no following whatsoever and don't have the patience nor time to build one before starting it
>>
>>2975481
same here. shouldn't we just start it anyway?
>>
>>2975486
That's what I'm going to do in a few months when I'm done writing. I have a pretty close family so I think they'll be generous enough to hold me over.
>>
>>2975491
what's it about
>>
>>2975450
offer something that 1000 people are willing to pay you one dollar a month for
>>
>>2975566
good idea
>>

It fits your description but is totally not what you mean.

OP here. I am making my patreon, and I am so excited. I'll be offering recordings of streaming and videos for $1 patrons.

but... what's a good recorder for the screen? Also, picarto or twitch?
>>
>>2978382
what will you be streaming and recording?
>>
>>2978387
livestreaming and inviting people to join me, and also recording so people can look back at it later
>>
>>2978382
have fun with your 0$ a month, why would anyone give you money
>>

hmm idk, ask my 2000 followers
>>
>>2978404

lol that's nothing
>>
>>2978382
Open Broadcasting Software is the only software worthwhile.
>>
>>2978404
>2000
lol
>>
>>2978404
is that 2000 total across all social medias?
>>
>>2978404
I have over 3000 followers on one of the sites I post on, but I don't consider that enough to manage to get anything substantial out of a Patreon account. You are vastly underestimating the parentage of followers you have that will actually throw money at you. Doing regular commissions will be the best option for you now to make some extra cash, trust me.
>>
>>2978529
>underestimating
I meant overestimating, off course.
>>
>>2978529
eh, starting with ~$50 a month seems better than not starting patreon at all. I already do commissions.
>>
>>2978547
Well, I have friends that have about the same number of followers as me, and they both way less then 50 bucks a month (and I pledge them both 5 bucks a month, lel) But they both draw pretty soft stuff, so if you do porn you might do a tiny bit better. Just don't quit your day job... if you have one.
>>
>>2978529

A friend has just over 1000 followers on tumblr but makes around >$700 monthly from Patreon. For a casual side gig with minimal promotion, it's a respectable amount.

YMMV, but there is something all the wannabe concept and porn artist on /ic/ need to think about more: is your work recognizable and unique? If your style or ideas regurgitate generic anime or generic tumblr that is done by hundreds of thousands of other artists, and no one can put a name to your work without your signature, then you are not valuable even if your technique is good. As an artist, you need to give a reason for patrons to support you specifically, some satisfaction they can get only from you.
>>
>>2978529
>3000 followers
You're being retarded bro. Even if only a fraction moves to your patreon and chooses to pay you a dollar/month, it's already worth enough to start getting to work.
>>
>>2978847
Wat!? I can't imagine anything else then that guy having a lot more followers on other sites... or I'm wrong and he's just killin' it.

>>2978853
Meh, I may be retarded but seeing how my buddies are not getting anywhere is making me a bit negative, I guess. Also, I have a day job and I'm a bit worried having a Patreon will make me stressed out for too little cash. But again, I know I'm being pretty negative right now....
>>
>>2978947
>I can't imagine anything else then that guy having a lot more followers on other sites

The problem with this kind of thinking is that you are assuming all fans are equal. They are not.

This isn't all that different from music. You have your pop stars who have millions of followers around the world, but you also have small bands that do very interesting and original things, who have a small but dedicated following that will support them for decades.

Artists who have really individualistic styles tend not to appeal to the masses, because they are ahead of them. They are respected by other artists and connoisseurs who are worth 100 casual fans.
>>
>>2979009
Good point. I guess the term "quality over quantity" is true when it comes to followers too.

Stop overthinking it and just try it out if you're curious. If it doesn't work out just be open with your followers and say you're not ready. Stop being a sad cunt amigo.

I'm sure your mom is looking forward to your drawings of anime girls with dicks!
>>
>>2979354
How did you get $5 already?
>>

>>2979009

>The problem with this kind of thinking is that you are assuming all fans are equal.

Well said, if an artist does cutesy, sfw, anime art, he may have ton of fans/followers, but if these people are all underage they may not have the income to support your patron.

Unlike someone who draws porn or draws shit dealing with mature themes and has a smaller following. Their followers maybe all employed.

However, unique artstyle does go a long way.
>>
Things that are like tutorials or live streams where they go over what they're doing is something I'd be willing to pay for and I know some people do.

Something like galleries or images I couldn't care less about, and I don't really care about getting art from any specific artist.

Basically I'd pay to see their process and be able to have active communication with them.
>>
>>2979549
You're a small minority.
>>
An estimate how much your patreon is gonna make is take an averagely successful image you posted in recent weeks and divide the amount of favs / notes it got by 10. So if your average image gets 100 favs, you can expect 10$ per month on patreon.
>>
>>2979552
I mean I wouldn't mind seeing more of their art. But getting something from them isn't worth the money to me. When someone pays for art is should have that much value to them, there's no drawings I want that have anything over a $5 value to me. And that's not because I don't value art, there's just nothing I want.
>>
how to overcome patreon anxiety?? i always procrastinate on posting because the money involved makes me incredibly anxious (i have a few super patient patrons though)

This is a guide for how to make a subscription box service from scratch. It is long but there is a ton of good info and lots of ideas for handling social media/online presence.

Hope this helps.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
