I want to argue that they aren't but after seeing this I don't think I could give any possible justification as to why I have that opinion.

You tell me
>>
>>2971812
As stupid as this is, it is still attempting to express something.
So as far as things go, I wouldn't call it the lowest form of art since it is still attempting to get across the artist's feelings or intentions.

Its better than shitting in a toilet and calling it art at least.
And while its less technically challenging, I'd say its better than just mindlessly drawing people's faces in a HYPER REALISTIC manner

>>
>>2971812
Not necessarily. As with any form of media that is being over saturated, you have a good amount of gems, hidden among all the shit. Because the market is so oversaturated, anyone can post their comics online. That is both a blessing and a curse.

just call it media

>>

No, they just attract the lowest form of artist because of how easily accessible they are.

They are not art, they are entertainment. Jesus fucking christ /ic/ stop looking for art in everything, get your shit together.

Retard.
>>
I'd say a lot of abstract and shitty pretentious "modern" art is lower. But not by a whole lot.
>>
Webcomics aren't a different art form than any regular graphic novel. An art form doesn't change based on the distribution method. So if you're saying webcomics are the lowest art form, you are saying graphic novels and sequential art in general are the lowest art forms, which is a pretty fucking stupid opinion to hold even amongst contrarian hipsters.

I'm triggering myself all the times reading 9gag/facebook type webcomics
it's badly drawn, badly written, unfunny overused meme jokes. It is beyond me how some "artists" can get a huge follower base with literal garbage

Stop trying to get good if you want to make it, just try to milk 13 years old memers

>>
>>2972350

I'm hesitant to just flatly rule out using that much text but I feel like at a certain point you need to consider a different medium.
>>
>>2972393
you can make very simple things that will still be cool and original, it doesn't require much skill, just a functioning brain
it shouldn't be an excuse to make totally uninspired garbage and be ok with it because you have many followers
>>
>>2972377
He has a good YT channel.
>>
>>2971812
That's silly. There are webcomics like K6BD and Stand Still Stay Silent that BTFO pretty much all of the shit I've seen on /ic/. You can't judge an entire medium by its lowest common denominator.
>>
>>2971812
Politics are the lowest hanging fruit, sincerelly inferior to potty humor. Identity politics are politics' retarded stepson.

Webcomics are a media not a genre, you can find noir, fantasy, horror and genuinelly good comedy just like in every other medium. And it's visual arts merits range from stick figures to 10/10s of contemporary illustration.

If you wanted to make a sjw bashing thread you didn't need to drag webcomics into it, we can make fun of the attack helicopters on their own merits.
>>
>>2972400
The point of a comic is that you can use drawings and text together. The drawings (which aren't even good) are serving no purpose in relationship to the words and are being crowded off the page by them. The writing isn't even good and the punchlines are shit as well so the payoff for slogging through it is very low. Ideally if you're going to do something you should play to the strengths of the medium you're using.
>>
>>2972376
He has a point, I can't seem to browse facebook without tripping upon comic after comic of stupid looking manchildren being abused by blobs labeled "life", "depression", "anxiety", etc.

I remember back in the 90's while I overheard the tv with stuff like Friends or Frazer as I did my homework, thinking about how many different ways the showrunners could turn a basic misunderstanding between aloof adults into absurd situations.

If you're gonna rethread a joke, at least change the setup.
>>
>>2972713
But those writers probably had a variety of experiences from having a social life to draw on unlike this generation of """creatives"""" who do all their socializing via social networks and think it's normal for a 27-35 year old to ""geek out"" about the latest bread and circus being fed to us by Disney/Marvel.

>interested in doing web comics

>it's filled with literal 10 year olds

how? there are plenty of good drawfags on 4chan, how is it that /co/ managed to attract all the horrible ones?
>>
>>2972797
>board for childrens cartoons
>attracting children

>>
>>2972801
According to sitewide poll aggregates, /co/ had the lowest mean age and IQ. Literally retarded manchildren there, their webcomic thread is only good for pointing and laughing.
>>
>>2971812
Two words:

Political cartoons
>>
>>2972400
It's the way it's delivered and execution.
It could've been an entire story on it's own beginning in medias res, but rather sticks to the regular comic book format. No exciting visuals to add. Just flat dreck, and the speech bubble has inconsistent flow and makes it hard to read unless you pull out a magnifying glass to make sense of the situation without losing track.
>>
>>2972797
Yeah, I'm a regular there. There's a few artists there who are good and/or genuinely want to improve, but that's the minority. Makes me wish we had regular comic threads on /ic/
>>

someone always says they're going to do it but so far it hasn't been done. I think the community of /ic/ has become so toxic that creators wouldn't want to associate their work with it anymore.
>>
>>2972797
/co/ attracts tumblr. I remember in the weekly Caturday threads that people would find furry artists in tumblr that drew a /co/ related cat and invite them to the threads
