I have a whole folder for nothing but my favorite round brush paintings. Love the aesthetic so much. No texture brushes smudging and fudging everything. No vague noise where you can get away with faking stuff. No ugly photobashing. Just simple and basic.

Any texture brush.

Hard round brush is basically the most bare-bones tool you can get in any medium. It doesn't do any "work" for you like a texture brush would, or even a brush in traditional mediums.

I'd say it's the most difficult brush to use. I wouldn't call it the go-to brush.

Doesn't this use a whole lot of texture brushes?
>>
Many of these images weren't don't with a hard round brush exclusively. There were used opacity/flow reduction and texture brushes.

They include:

hard round brush with opacity/flow settings enabled is still a hard round brush.

The first 6 pics ITT are definitely hard round brush

So is >>2972052

and really all that matters is that a large portion of the piece is done with it.
>>
>>2972294
If all you mean if you say "hard" is something like anti-aliasing then that's a pretty pointless distinction (And I bet the brush in the OP had some even if it is minor. The default brush setting for a round brush include anti-aliasing in most programs). I personally see hard as no transparency, like if you were squeezing a paintbrush with a full amount of paint.

"hard round" refers to the shape and edge of the brush
>>
>>2972299
No. Just the edge in that case. It means opacity along the edge. Also known as anti-aliasing (Commonly known from computer graphics where it makes things appear less jagged by using the same method).

I'm having a hard time understanding what the hell you're trying to say.

These are all hard round brushes. Agree?

What defines a digital brush is the shape/picture used as the template for the brush. Brushes are just images densely repeated one after another.

If the template for the brush is a solid round, hard edged circle, then that's a hard round brush. Agree?

no

Look at your own image. The two last strokes got a hard edge but the first two don't because the brushes are set for anti-aliasing, aka opacity. The higher you set that anti-aliasing value the more blurry the edge becomes.

>If the template for the brush is a solid round, hard edged circle, then that's a hard round brush. Agree?
I already told you that I consider any opacity as none-hard. But the only other way to distinguish between hard and soft would be to base it on if the brush got anti-aliasing or not. If it does have it then you could talk about degrees of "hard vs soft" depending on how blurry you want the edge. But in the end it's still just opacity.

If you don't get it now then I don't know what to tell you.
>>
>>2972315
Ok I get how you think about it now.

I don't think most people define hard round brush like you do, though.

Hard round brush is just the "default circle brush" on most drawing software. The one where the template for the brush is a hard round circle.
>>
>>2972317
As soon as people start designing their own brushes they need to make that distinction.

The problem is that different software use different terms. If you look at the brush settings in Photoshop and compare them with something like Clip Studio then the functions are sometimes called different things. So at that point you got to start using the terms as they were originally intended.

Me, I look to traditionally art for a guide in that regard.

A round brush is the basic brush in any traditional painting toolkit. It's not the hardest to use, at all. It has a purpose, like any brush has. A basic round and pointed round is what any beginning painter will use the most, because they're very versatile. You get into more one purpose brushes, or more limited purpose brushes later on, like fans, filberts, and flats. But any artist, pro or beginner, is gonna have a decent collection of rounds in their brush jar.

Texture brushes are for later, when you're learning to paint, you should be avoiding things like that, and learning how the basic brushes work - starting with the round.

Hard round comes from real painting. See image. A round brush is describing the shape of the bundle of bristles, that's all it is. A round will act differently according to how you use it. But if it's cross section is a circle, it's a round brush. It's that simple.
>>
>>2973188
So you are mad that something right was pointed out and now your only comeback is that

>"yeah but that's autistic to say even if it's true".
