That's potential not talent.

So it always require the same amount of work?
>>
>>2958153
Yes.

>>2958187
Talent is 100% real, hence why there are people who grind fundamentals forever with barely any improvement and others improve with little effort.
>>
I'm about to pull the trigger all right.

>goodbye cruel world

>people who grind fundamentals forever with barely any improvement
Then they are doing it wrong.
It's like people who do bicep curls all their life without increasing the weight, wondering why they still look like flabby losers.
>>
>>2958354
Interesting that you should bring up weight-training because it's completely accepted in sports that genetics will determine your success in athletics.
>>
>>2958358
depends on the sport really. there's probably people that are shitting on great athletic potential that don't have the desire to play sports. I don't know why it matters either way if talent exists or not, if it helps you improve in art or do whatever you want to do then sure, believe in it. michael jordan may have had "talent" or "great genetic potential" but he also practiced every fucking day.
>>

that are sitting*
>>
I stopped trying to draw because I don't have the talent to do it.

I know talent exists because I'm talented at music and some of my peers are not, in a way that is just obvious. When I was 12, I won $$$ prizes in national contests, meaning I got the only 100 out of 100 score among hundreds/thousands of people, without hardly even practicing, while people that worked their butt off got like 70/100 and similar scores.
>>
>>2958371
And then you were told how amazing and gifted and talented you were so you never practiced and never improved and here you sit
>>
>>2958376
I'm actually finishing my degree at the conservatoire this year, and seriously studying for a change, but I guess at the time I did not study as much. No biggie, Sandoval is a great musician at 67.

i would say, "your talent is the gun, you are the trigger."

but i like obtuse metaphors

If the bullet was going in my head I'd be more motivated to work

Why are you on /ic/
>>
>>2958387
I still enjoy some threads, like "my style your style",
the porn one
, and it somehow makes me feel like I'm learning a bit about drawing even though I'm not doing shit
>>
>>2958362
Not him, but the point is that talent and hard work are both contributing factors to success, among other things.
>>
>>2958344
>Talent is 100% real, hence why there are people who grind fundamentals forever with barely any improvement and others improve with little effort.
I am somebody who has grinded for years fundamentals and went nowhere with it, but in the last few months I've learned more than my entire life in drawing

does that mean I got reborn with talent?

No, I just learned the difference between hard work and smart work

talent loads the gun, and hard work pulls the trigger... when you are shooting yourself

the words you are looking for are
>smart work
>>
>>2958344
I mean, sure talent is 100% year. But the only way to find out if you have talent is if you draw 8 hours a day for 5 years straight.
>>
>>2958362
I'm not taking anything away from Michael Jordan by pointing out he's 2 meters tall making him ideally suited for the sport of basketball. There's a reason why great players like Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James etc. are all around 2 meters or taller as well.
